View Full Version : Shared tolerance between "real" Opiates, and Kratom?

Does anyone know if there is any sort of shared tolerance between opiates and kratom? I know that Kratom binds mostly to delta opiate recepters with some crossover binding to the mu receptors, and that the mu receptors are the main cause for euphoria while on conventional opiates. So with that said, would I, having such a large tolerance to "conventional" opiates, also have a tolerance to Kratom, before I even do it? Any thoughts or suggestions on where to go to get this information, or even your own personal "theories" so to speak, would be greatly appreciated.

7-hydroxymitragynine is an mu agonist and is 30 times stronger than mitragynine. if you have a tolerance to opioids you will have a tolerance to the opioid alkaloids in kratom.

Very interesting.... Thanks for your reply... I searched for 7-hydroxymitragynine and found an article on opiods.com that explained a little more about it.... Thanks for leading me in the right direction ;)... If I take more Kratom, trying to get the desired opiate effect, will I just get sick chasing a buzz that is basically out of reach?

kratom euphoria and dysphoria seems to be a fine line crossed quickly by just a few grams too much......I take mine in 2-5 gram doses 5-15 times per day. if I am sitting or laying I can do lots, but the morning dose I hold off on doing alot.

Still I think kratom is amazing. I have followed it for about 4-5 years. awhile back it was hard to even get the right plant, and that might come in every year or so. with the plant on the rise I have heard of many people growing all over the world, indoor and outdoors.

It is amazing, an evergreen tree that likes pruning, dropping leaves and providing cuttings all year long! I hope the plant is handled with respect.

Jackie, I gotta get me a lil greenhouse and jus grow like a dozen kratom trees. This shit is being sold like hotcakes and man, you know what happens then... The thing about salvia, which has been sold on the internet for like ten years now, is that IT SUCKS. Kratom is the bomb. Salvia makes you feel psychotic and just like you got of one of those tilt-a-whirl rides at carnivals.

If we, the kratom using community, can keep the focus off of us, and on the H users (I know it's some of the same people, but just go with me here), we can keep it legal. Right now there isn't a whole lot of info out there for the DEA to hang their hat on in a decision to schedule this plant. Arguably, there is a whole lot of reasons to schedule salvia and they still haven't done that. People regularly hurt themselves while in the throes of an intense salvia trip, but you don't hear about any people getting hurt (I mean beyond jus' puking) from kratom

Oh, and I agree with the comments re kratom tolerance vs. "opiate" tolerance. I can add an interesting observation here - Before I started using kratom (daily almost right from the start - what can I say, I like it), I had a pretty bad hydrocodone, codeine, oxycodone habit (mostly pills, some IV), and before that used to do H both up the nose and IV, so I had a tolerance too. That was like five years ago. My first dose of kratom after five years of abstinence from opiates, I had to take like 8 grams, which is supposed to be a big dose, before I even felt it. That old tolerance was still lurking in the darkest reaches of my nervous system. Now, though, I have to take almost half an ounce per dose to get off.
