So if you get a bupe script and put it on your insurance does that basically mean that your labeled as an addict for life or just by your current provider or what and does this go into your medical records or anything else also??
Just wondering cause bupe is mega expensive without insurance.

I don't think so---I use the same insurance for both my regular doc and my opiate doc, and my regular doc has never mentioned anything about my opiate recovery program, in fact she's Rx'd me opiates while I've been in the program. I'm sure if she really dug around, she may come up with something. I think all that stuff falls under the heading of "pychiatric services". That's just me and my insurance (UHC), so others may be different, but I'm sure most are discreet about it.

ZK, thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
Anyone elses input would be appreciated though, if it came down to it I would much rather pay out of pocket than be labeled as an addict. I'm only 21 but already have mild chronic back pain & I dont wanna screw myself for life if I do ever need some meds! But god that shits expensive, more then my DOC presently when you add in the doc visits....

I also have not had any problems using my insurance to cover Bup treatment. Two different doctors neither aware of the other. I still get hydro, darvon, xanax, and soma prescribed without any problems. My sub doctor prescribes them for depression, my PC doctor prescribes the others for pain related issues.
I would not get my sub filled at the same pharmacy as other narcotics, but I don't see why your insurance shouldn't pay for your treatment.
use a different pharmacy and wait 30 days from your last Bup script before filling another narcotic.

I hope not. When I went to the clinic, I was not thinking straight. Since getting on Bupe, that thought has crossed my mind...I don't regret doing this...and I think if I had not done this, I would have got in far worse trouble (ON MY PERMINATE RECORD!!!)

you can always say that you are prescribed bupe for pain, I get mine from a pain clinic.....I just found out I gave a genetic spine disorder and bone fragments in my knee, so Im hoping the pain doc will put me on real meds.....but as far as the insurance goes, I once filled my bupe script, and a script for 30 perc 7.5's from a diff doc at the same pharmacy at the same time....so I wouldn't worry about it.

Why should they care? It's none of their business what you're taking and if they're legitimate prescriptions then there's no problem. Unless it's Walgreens and then like In The Wind said they might hassle you.

Why should they care? Well they do and some Pharmacists have a real problem with it and will turn you into to your Doctor or worse turn you Doctor in. I have seen it happen and people have lost their RX's and Doctors have lost the ability to write for scheduled drugs. Basically it's becausue your not allowed to do it.

I hear stories all the time where the pharmacist calls a doctor or to inform him a patient is receiving more than one controlled substance at the same time or the insurance company flags a patient for trying to fill a prescription early.
I agree it should not matter, plus it is none of their business, but there are over zealous do-gooder pharmacists that feel like it is their duty to stick their nose in your business. So, just to make sure I don’t run into problems getting my meds, I follow some basic protocols to avoid doing business with or creating one of these morons.
