You can buy it all over the place online. Just do a search on "entheogins", " botanical extracts", "shamanic plants and herbs", you get the idea. Jennymacs.com, Phytoextractum.com, Salvia.com, and many, many others carry it. And it is legal in the US.

I have always been happy with sagewisdom.org. Not the cheapest, but it's run by a pioneering researcher on salvia and quality is assured. Get the 10x enhanced if you want to really get off. Not everybody does. But watch out - salvia is not "fun" or any kind of a "high". It bends your mind like nothing else. But it is also very safe and short-acting, ntm legal.
Assuming you have a reasonably solid hold on reality, everyone should try it once. Bizarre to say the least.

Word-up. This shit is scary. It will twist you up like a rubber band and shoot down a tube into another dimension. It will introduce you to shadow people. It will bring your dead relatives back to life.

My local head shops carry the stuff.
If you get the "real" stuff, you are in for a really intense mindfuck.
Have fun:D

No it's not particularly a good thing at all. It's a bizarre thing. There are all sorts of crazy-ass theories about "Salvia space" and what it means. It's spooky how people have very specific experiences that seem to be universal, so it's hard to attribute them to just hallucinations. Like Lady Salvia herself, the enraged bitch who screams at you and makes you feel like a little child who's done something really naughty. Or the elves, did I forget to mention the elves? The seem to be leftovers from a DMT trip.
My weirdest Salvia experience went sort of like this:
Inhaled large lungful of concentrate. Exhaled. Inhaled another large lungful. Exhaled and lied back on a rug.
I felt like I was being stretched lengthwide like a long piece of taffy. The room started to rotate and make this mechanical sound like I was on a roller-coaster ride. Cachunk cachunk cachunk cachunk, then I was going around and around and around and overlooking the entire affair was a giant spider, or was it a space alien? This was the spider, I had come to know, reponsible for weaving the web of spacetime throughout the entire universe. The spacetime of the universe is like a frabric, spiders weave webs, the rug is fabric, it's all so cosmic you see. The spider whispers something to me which essentially explains all the mysteries of life in a single word, but I know that I will never be able to take such knowledge back to the other side.
Spinning, spinning, spinning, then BAM!!! Flat on my back on the rug again. Wow, what a trip... sort of glad it was over. Wait a minute, it's not over... I'm being stretched, stretched flat!! Flat and wide like a giant piece of rubber. I am shaped sort of like a canoe and there is an underworld of spirits below me, right below this goddamn rug, and they are reaching up pressing against me. It's as if there are two dimensions, the "room" which is reality as we know it, and the underworld, filled with the shadow people. And the shadow people are playfully pressing against me, this "me" which has become nothing more than a thin flat membrane, as if they want to get a chance to touch the other reality. BAMM!!! I'm back in the room, and no longer flat. My friend is holding the pipe, and asks "Want another hit?"
Uh... NO THANKS.
By the way, as weird as that experience sounds, according to Salvia users (Salvianauts as they call themselves) this was not very high up on the S-A-L-V-I-A scale. They would say that this was a 'level 4' experience, or 'visionary.' You see, I still possessed the concept of "I" so I did not experience total ego-annihilation found on level 5. On higher doses you lose your identity completely and you forget that you ever took a drug. That's when things get really scary.

Man I have had about a half an ounce, plus some extract in my drug box for probably, say, 3 years now? I hate the stuff (produced one of the 2 bad trips I have had in my life) and would give it away. Too bad you dont live close =\

When I get off really strong, it feels like I just fall through the floor. You can literally forget who you are - not just your name and identity, but that you are a human being - or what it means to be a human being - or what it means to be anything separate and apart from the swirling void. I've done this a number of times, and when I start to reattach to normal reality, I find myself saying "holyshitholyshitholyshitholyshit..." Then, "jeez, I didn't remember it was like THAT!"
There's just no describing it, although woowoo did as good a job as any. Being stretched like taffy is typical, as the fabric of reality is swept away. I've never done ketamine, though I gather it's similar. The craziest thing - and I mean that in a literal sense - is that when I come back I "realize" that everyday reality is just an illusion. I once saw a mother come back and start crying inconsolably; she explained that she had realized that her kids didn't really exist, that her life as she knew it was just a passing illusion. It's like that.
I never came into contact with any entities or anything, but people do. Some people get intense visions, sometimes from their past. Some people flow into inanimate objects, like the table they are touching, and feel as if they can't get out. I've seen it happen.
None of this is an exaggeration, I assure you. Have fun out there.

well, it is not legal everywhere, a few states have made it totally illegal, in maine you have to be 18, which is an example of the most lenient control imposed. in another state you can grow it, but not sell the leaf or extracts.
now texas is looking to control it.
imagine if 48 states illegalize it and only 2 let it be.....youll have people in two states producing much of the illicit material for the whole country!
recent research has created a mu agonist from the active compound in salvia...now this compound shows amazing potential for treating pain but not initiating tolerance.
this stuff is going to get put through human testing I bet.
and then possibly become a controlled substance pharm.
and then the DEA might impose laws controlling the plant and its compounds for all states.
but I think its highly possible that the DEA may swing the axe on salvia sooner than later.
and the effects of salvia divinorum?
1/5 of people will usually not be effected by it!
and some people find it really feels like a standard opiate. I know two people that smoke it and get profound pain relief, and swear that it feels more like vicodin than an hallucinogen.
the effects are widely variable for even people that are effected by it. seems dose and intake really change the nature of the compounds effects.
one of the most amazing and unique psychoactive out there.
when I first felt its effects, before the scientists had pinned down the pharmacology of the active salvinorin a, I thought it felt alot like ketamine. I also thought because of this it might be a kappa opioid agonist, or nmda antagonist. well, it turns out to be a kappa agonist.
I love the stuff.

That blows my mind, but I can believe it. As you say its effects vary wildly from person to person, and even from hit to hit. For me, it makes my skin crawl, usually right off my skeleton and across the rug where it enters the never ending vortex of the cosmic taffy factory.
I first tried it out of intellectual curiosity, just like when I got into LSD heavily. But with Salvia I gave up rather quickly. Why? Because I discovered that there is a bridge between SalviaSpace and reality, and when you try to take Salvia wisdom back to the real world, they shake you down at customs.

I don't like anything that makes me lose control - period. Opies don't make me lose control, that's why my ONLY weakness is opies.
Doc.
That salvia sounds like some scary shit. I for one will not be playing with it.

So I guess, you're not a big LSD/psilocybin/research chemical kind of guy? :-)

Not at all, Oxy. I once had a five-hour experience with philosphers's stones - before they outlawed them out here in England - and while I enjoyed certain aspects of it - namely the uncontrollable laughter - I didn't like loping around the house like a dribbling stroke victim, or the fact that the stuff made time stand almost still.
Out of control just is not my bag.
