Holy shit, all these posts before I even get the poll up. As ashamed as I am to admit it I voted daily in moderation. Usually less if I've got a good supply of opiates but my flatmates drink most days and I'm easily influenced. And I get bored often so what else to do but drink?

i used to be a daily drunk. after about 10-12 years (who was keeping track?) i found opiates and quit drinking for the most part.

nowadays it makes me feel like shit. recently i used to go out with co-workers and have tap bud light in pitchers, smoke cigs and watch a live band, but not for a few months since i moved.

yeah heidi i know the feeling, not about the liver although i'm sure mine is fucked, but not as bad as yours.

I voted occassionally, once or twice a month. Alcohol isn't my cup of tea at all. I usually drink when I'm anxious and can't get anything else. Last night I had four whiskey sours. Today I've had one whiskey sour and one rum and coke. Before that it was probably six weeks ago when I had some red wine. I just don't like the taste of alcohol, and I really don't like the way it makes me feel. The only time I like it is when I'm drinking to get drunk, and am just so out of it, I can't remember what I did. I'm silly, but also stupid. I like more controlled highs. With opiates I'm relaxed, sociable, happy, stress free, able to carry on a conversation, but without the blurting out stupid shit.

I used to NEVER touch alcohol and thought it was nasty shit. Then on my last attempt to quit opiates and go back to Subs several months ago I discovered that it really is "pain-go-byebye-juice" as described by Patton Oswalt, and made the switch a little more tolerable.

I quickly became a lush and drank hard liquor daily (and yes, during the actual day, alone, to get drunk, and all that other alky stuff). I'd go through a whole handle of Vodka in about 3 or 4 days tops (my friend could clear one in just 2 days). Then after a few months of abusing my body like that, I cut it down to just weekends, where it remains today.

It was hard going from a daily boozer to just weekends, but I did it. And I feel much healthier now so that makes it easier to stick to that. The first week of not daily drinking was really tough. The second was a little easier, and ever since it's just gotten easier to where it's no big deal at all now.

I drink on the weekend and sometimes thursday, and holidays, birthdays, etc.. I have liver disease and they say I shouldn't drink at all. When I do drink I usually don't have more than about a six pack. I really just like being buzzed a little too much to give it up right now.

i come from a family of drinkers and alcoholics. we all have pretty high alcohol tolerances. It will take me atleast a 6 pack or more to get a nice buzz, and atleast a 12 pack to get me drunk. thats when im drinkin brews. I like hard shit too, i like it all

The only thing I really drink at all is straight gin. For some reason I have no problem with it, and at 100proof, it fucks me up nice and quick.

I don't drink for the pleasure of holding a pretty cup in my hand with straws and fruit and colors and crap like that. That's for girls! I drink to get drunk, that's what alcohol is for.

Alcoholic right here. It has slowed down tremendously the past month and a half. Now I'll have about 1 glass of wine a night to a Half bottle of wine or 6 beers ocassionally. Drink almost every night, miss 2 days sometimes.

For6 months previous to this change I was drinking every day HEAVILY 12 packs. full bottles of wine. Liqour ugh i was a sick fuck. I dont know what I was running from or trying to mask either. Now I look back on that destructive phase and I wonder what led me to do that? The love of the drink i guess ;)

^^ I'm drinkin about the same as you at the moment. generally about 2-6 glasses of red wine per night, missing a couple days every 2-3 weeks. I definately don't consider myself an alcoholic, no wd's on my days off, it's just hard not to drink daily in the situation I'm in at the moment. Red wine's good in small q's due to the various flavonoids, like 1-2 glasses. Beyond that the detrimental effects outweigh the positive. (if ya just want flavonoids, better to drink tea and eat fresh fruit) But if ya gotta drink.......

I've found after drinking red wine pretty constantly for the last few months drinking quantities upwards of a bottle a night to be much easier on the body than the equivalent ammount of beer (6 pack). Not such a stupid drunk either.

How much is a bottle of gin in the US?Depends, I get tanqueray gin just because I can drink it so easy. It costs $22 for 750ml, prob like $27 a liter. But there is a lot cheaper gin, that's for sure. But unlike dope you can be picky about what you drink and not get a baseball bat upside the head, so I get tanqueray.

Oddly, I found that my drinking tolerance was a lot like my opi tolerance. I drank for 14 - 15yrs straight, then took some years off the stuff (due to opi's). Recently I quit the opi's and started drinking again... right back where I left off in just a few short weeks!! [used to drink an 18 - 24 pack of watered down american beer... now drink a 12 pack of Natural Ice (I know, but I'm broke as hell! Plus 5.9% alc. vol.!!) and a 40 oz of "cheap malt liqua!]
I thought a few years of complete sobriety would have me all shits 'n' giggles when I started drinking again.. not true.

I was honestly expecting to be the only one here to say "Never touch the dirty drug" but to my surprise 5 other people voted that way.

To be truthful I have had about 4 or 5 alchoholic beverages in the last year but that was the selection closest to the truth. A glass of wine at a dinner, a martini with my mom, a beer at a poker game, but very very rarely. I just don't enjoy it. Puking my guts out from college tequila binges cured me. Besides, I think it interferes with my real high.
