Whaddya think? An Opiophile.org chat area? Using Java or Flash, etc? Anyone use a chat module or page on another forum and wanting to recommend?

i really, really like that one. I wonder if it would be easy to integrate into vBulletin. Perfect timing as with our software renewal, we'll also be updating the board with a new version of vBulletin, as well as an update for our front page. Will definitely be a project -- hopefully with the new forum software will come a new chat module, as well.

Time will tell - when vB is out of their release candidate 2, we'll make the move to update.

Any other chat modules out there or anyone seen a decent one on a vbulletin forum?

i personaly prefer flash chat modules to java implimentations. I tend to find their easyer to set up, faster to run and more compatable than java aplets. Flash implimentations also tend to be more stable. just my 2c_

oh yeah, i have seen it done on a vbulitin forum, had a link called "chat" along the top bar, with the quick links and search links and all that.

i was able to find the source code of the page, the forum is no longer opperating and was private anyway, strangly its still online though, just not maintained. Ill deconstruct it when i get chance and send you anythinhg usfull that comes from it.

I'm sure with the new upgrade we're about to take on that there will be some bleeding edge chat module we can find. thanks for checking it out - 'appreciate anything you find out!

I've posted this on another forum, but we gave it a try in adding a chat module - it didn't go so well. We're looking at using another, but we're going to wait until the next release, which is soon.

I'd use it for sure...problem is no one is really around on the sporadic times I come on here...however maybe WITH chat frequency of visits (or length of stay) would increase... *shrug* I say go for it if you can swing it:rolleyes:
