Fucking Janpenese and goddam Norwegians are buying votes from poor counties to over turn the ban on "commercial" whaling.They actually have enough votes now,so it might just be a question of time-so,it's a good time to get in to the harpoon business guys.
I didn't watch this,I suspect I know what it looks like and don't want to see it again.

I just sent this link to myself at work. I can get it to many more people this way. I couldn't watch the video either, but I do think this kind of barbaric torture should be stopped.

Quite horrific.
Just recently (Dec 06,) the Baji (Yangtze River Dolphin) of China was declared "functionally extinct." Their extinction was due more to expanded fishing zones, and pollution rather than outright slaughter.
Speaking of fishing, it now only takes 10 years to reduce a commercial species population by 90%. And projections indicate a human induced mass extinction of all forms of life (plants included) may occur within our lifetime. Yet the only time we hear about this on the news is in the form of a 5 second blurb spat from smiling plastic faces.
However, when a couple of people are killed by a tornado, it seems to be all we can talk about for at least a week.

ah goddammit i watched it, i wish i hadn't as that is fucking hard-core brutality. of course i signed the petition.
it's insane how shortsighted we all are to what we are doing to our planet and it's inhabitants.

I agree that it shouldn't be done. But, I do have to ask a stupid question: what the fuck do they do with the dolphins? Is it a delicasy or something? Or do they use it in some other manner? I can't imagine eating dolphin. I've had sashimi / sushi and I've had barbequed eel in Japanese restaurants, but dolphin? Come on.

yeah man...i don't care how good it fucking tastes they are just inhuman with how they kill em. i worked in a meat packing plant when i was younger and they are far more humane with killing cattle for christ sake - and these are intelligent mammals

They sell them as whale meat (which is somehow more appetizing.) I speculate it also gets rid of some fishing competition.

This is really sad. Dolphins are so inteligent. John Lilly did some really interesting research on dolphin human inter species communication, it gave me new respect for these animals and animal inteligence, though I must admit he did kill the first 6 or 4 of the 6 dolphins he got to research.

Two Words: Pearl Harbor. Its been along time but the biznotches did it. They actually package the shit over there like we do Tuna. I spent a month there and its a very nice place. The tradition has been goin on for YEARS. Itll never stop. Its part of there culture, kinda cant blame them.
