Does anyone have any first hand experience with detection times for oxycodone in urine?
I've seen estimated online everywhere from 8-24hrs to 1-3 days.
It seems like the range may be because of different tests. The test I would be concerned with is employment screening so it will be a lab test, but I somehow doubt it will be oxycodone specific.
Some sites say that in stantard and extended tests oxy isnt even detectable is low doses.

I think the range is based on how you use it. If you are stuck on them and take 240 mg a day for a year, it might take 3 days or more. If you ate 20mg last night, it might be undetectable the next day...

In my experience, most employment test dont test for oxycodone. I have several times been high on oxy while taking a piss test. Nothing ever came up about it. But if they are testing for it...3 days to be safe.

What about say...Someone smoked about 10mg of oxy lastnight, and wanted to use again tonight facing a ua on monday. Would that build it up in the body? I know using daily is what leads to a habit, have to watch out and shit.

Youd be straight with 10mg tonight rest assured

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking, plus it'd be good to load up on water before hand too...Wonder what that would do to tolerance and all though. Probably not alot.

In my experience, most employment test do not screen specific for Oxycodone. Typically you will take an EMIT 5 panel urine screen, which does test for opiates. Those opiates screened for are morphine and codiene, basically what they are testing for are metabloites of herion use. In order for oxycodone to show up they have to specifically screen for it. The amount of time oxycodone stays in your system is variable, depends on how much you use and how fast your body emilinates it. Generally 12-72 hours.

Depends what type of screening it is. I had a urine one done and I had not taken oxy in 2 weeks, and had not taken hydromorphine in 8 weeks and it still came up positive on my drug screen...??

if you really had not used in that amount of time then you got a false positive:mad:
and should have asked for a retest
worst case scenario all opiates should be out of your system after 8days

When they find a +, SOP is they do do a retest on the same sample to confirm the + as a internal audit.
Of course this is for the testing place not the company you are testing for; and if the company wants to be sure about it, it's all about more $$$, they have to prepay, and have the sample split in two (which the testing place does anyways; one to test now the other incase of a retest, most don't/won't pay the extra so you fail and you, well fail!
Full stop, thanks for coming, we'll call you.
BTW, if they have you sign a sealing sticker that is NOT already sealed on your sample, that is a breech of procedure and you can fight that the sample was contaminated, because you never saw the seal on the sample, who the hell knows what happened after you left w/ your sample open and unsigned...;)

My last drug test was a full panel test for all substances -the 5 panel, plus darvocet, benzos, and alcohol. I took 90mg of oxycodone on a Monday evening and my test was Friday morning. I did not use any urine masking agents (not even sure if they work for oxy), but drank lots of water and took a Vitamin B supplement the morning of the test. (Vitamin B adds a yellow color to your urine, if it comes out clear from a ton of water, they can claim diluded and can request another test.)Anyway, I passed the exam and all is well that ends well.
I was told by my nurse friend that the standard 5-Panel tests (affordable for companies - approx $5-15/ test) look for heroin alkaloids (morphine, codeine). She also said that there is a specific test for opiates (synthetic or natural derivatives), but it is a more expensive test to administer. Not a common pre-employment screening, but you never know. I recieved a letter in my new hire packet (stapled to the lab form) that gave me a detailed list of drugs they would be screening for and the acceptable tolerance limits for each.
Here is a link that explains quite a bit about detection and the problem with oxy testing - potential incorrect results and special testing methods used for oxy/ semi-synthetic opiates (used in Pain Mgmt Clinics). Hope it will help answer some of your questions! :)
