It was a stupid thing to do, but after weeks of watching my wife relapse, and then watching her run off with someone attending the same inpatient program, I decided to get high on heroin while using naltrexone.
I hawked the VCR in the morning. I had a huge needle that the hospital had given my wife when she begged them for rigs one day. I dont think they considered that she would actually use it. The needle was about as big as a small nail.
I hooked up with 40$ worth of dope, two peices. I went to a public bathroom, and carefully shot 1/4 of a balloon using the biggest needle I have ever had in a vein, bigger than blood sample needles.....
I actually felt the dope after doing two more shots the size of the first, though it was not nearly as strong as it would be hadnt I still had naltrexone in my blood. I called some people that I hung out with when using, and they asked me to score for them...we ended up doing dope all day. I didnt want to be alone while doing something risky like this. I itched, I nodded, I was euphoric. Only I had to do 4-8 times the amount that I would normally relapse with.
It occurred to me the next day to throw my few months of sobriety away, everything, the apartment,.....the agreement/contract with our parents.
I stopped taking naltrexone. What was the point? I already knew I could get a sort of a high going while using it. I had some side-effects from using naltrexone......lack of appetite....I couldnt sleep for longer than 3 hours at a time...wieght loss similiar to heroin addiction. I actually gained wieght while kicking dope, and then 3 weeks later got on naltrexone....it was my idea, the Doctors in this little clinic I was getting treatment at had never heard of it. a month after being on Naltrexone I lost all that weight again.
Sadly I bragged about this stupid idea of using naltrexone with dope. A guy I know heard from someone I got high on Naltrexone.....he decided to try it out. His freinds let him die in a corner of the room while they did whatever.
I am interested in Naltrexone in microgram amounts for tolerance maintenance and or potentiation of other opiates. I took very small amounts of Naltrexone with various opioids.....it seemed to work, but after a few days I would get dysphoric effects. like nausea, and dizziness, and some sort of ringing in the ears that would continue till the naltrexone was stopped.
I think from my experience that using naltrexone as a maintenance drug sucks............
