Heya all, for anyone who cares, I'm working on a concert review and also uploading favorite shows. Drop me a line if you have a request that you want to see appear on my site. Check it:
http://www.mighty-fox.com
Hey it's kind of relevent considering Jerry was the first smack head to play such mellow and encompasing shit... well maybe not the FIRST but still. I've only got three shows up there so far, but I'm adding shows daily and hopefull this site will soon become sweet. Take care.

sounds awesome fox! OH how I miss the boys! I am still trying to get my hands on a "Days Between" I think my old college bud is sending me a copy though. All my old bootlegs are worn to about shreds if they still work at all LOL!!
I did go see Bobby Weir & Ratdog a few months ago. First show I had seen since Jerry died & I was surprised how awesome it was (or maybe it was just that I missed the music so much) I have always been a Bobby fan though too & used to go see him with Wasserman.
ok sorry for my rambling. Guess you got me excited:p
gonna go check out & bookmark your sight thanks for sharing!

No worries and hey if you are really lookin' I can get you Days between.
No offence, but do you know what you're doing? How exactly are you restoring audio that isn't there? Please explain your process (and a list of programs you will be using).
If what you mean is taking a lead off the mixer, and turning that into mp3 (encoding the audio via the mp3 codec) to stream. You are actaully doing an audio degredation project.

I'm stealing SBD shows from sites that don't technically host them anymore. My method is somewhat devious. There is no degradation; all source files are listed.

It's not possible for there NOT to be degradation if you are re-encoding them. If you are not re-mastering them, then it is not an audio restoration anyway. So unless you have original .... ahhhh fuck it.
You're right, that is devious.

Deadheads were the best.
The Dead themselves burned out and died YEARS before Jerry burned out and died.
The last time I saw them was exactly one year before his death - we left during the show, they stunk that bad. And were rude beyond belief. Rude, in their own hometown. Bitter. It was so sad. But the Deadheads just kept dancing, and for that, I respect the followers of The Dead.

I know some people say some of the early 90s shows were great; sorry, it's all crap after 1981 (with the exception of the stuff Jerry did with Grissman and did on his own aka JGB) I know what you mean. That early dicks picks from the 80s is crap, save for the fire on the mountain./ I dunno.. I like the late 70's heroin jerry, the "golden" era dead (70-74) and "dawn" of the dead (not the movie) 65-69
those are my harmony years. Love ya Rags good to see ya. :)
I apologize greenfox. I was being an asshole, should just mind my own bizz. Sorry bout that. I have been loosing it lately and acting like a dickhead in general and I apologize.

Btw, Greenie, your concept is indeed one that will appeal to all DeadHeads lurking around. And speaking of Jerry's "luv 'o the stuff", let us not forget keith richards, ray charles, billi holiday and on and on.......

Very good work!! You got my email of favorite shows right?
Don't worry about "the big debate" between Shorten-files and MP3's... for these pre-1990 soundboards it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. I'd rather have the MP3s, they sound the same and don't hog up a gigabyte and a half every time I download one.
Sorry to be off topic(as per),but which year did Pigpen kick it?

You picked Dane County '73 !!!!! Good for you man, you did get my email...
Dark Star -> Phil Getting Off -> Eyes of the World
When I was a young punk in college I heard some Dead before and figured I didn't really like it, then I started hanging with these guys who broke out some doses and a tape of this show like it was some dusty cherished artifact and we smoked pot and listened to this shit while LSD made the grass start to wiggle, until the sun went down and every star was a shooting star. I was hooked on the Dead from then on.
The transitive fuckin' nightfall of diamonds, indeed.

March 1973. There's tons of tapes of him playing in 1972, sounding stronger than ever, and I have an early 73 tape where Bobby says prophetically that "Pigpen isn't here tonight; he's not feeling well."

I did it! Today I performed the first weld, of many to come, in my life. It was a simple stick weld that practiced for about an hour and a half. though I dont know that simple is the correct term. My teacher made it look easy but then it was my turn. That shit truly is an art and requires the hands of a surgeon. Im so excited about it. Money money money mooooonaaaay!!!
ITs just so weird having to do something as precise as that when you are unable to see what you are doing until the metal starts to liquify.
So within a few years I expect to be the greatest welder in the universe. So now welding will be added to that list which includes being the best drummer, chef, sexiness giver/giver of sex and drug addict in the universe.
It aint easy bein' me.
LOVE.

I was thinking the same thing. But i realized that wasn't exactly right in my way of thinking. Soi in a way i did disagree with myself just this time it was internal.
People are too confident in what they think anyway. Its overrated and judgemental...possibly. Vonnegut (a book writing guy) once talked about how confused he was with americans thinking its necessary to have an opinion on everything. no matter what the topic or how disconnected they are from it. I think it is something inside me that I am trying to break free from. Hence the frequent disagreement's. I don't know though. This sounds like something that will not fly with me within 24 hours or so. It could be a weeker even. Yep....a weeker.

One thing real quick by the way. When posting in the music and art forum if you are talking about music and or art that is not considered off topic. Just like if you post in the general forum and then you talk about something thats....general....thats totally salt.. the kosher kind of course.
You could talk about Barry minow if you wanted. The fact that you are a junkie and you are talking about music, in my opinion, makes it worthy of the music forum.
Just thought I'd inform you guys that Jerry bought the movie rights to one of Vonnegut's(the book writing guy) novels, but never got round to adapting it or making it-just kept re optioning it.

Do you know which one Jerry bought?

I do because I'm an incredibly nice guy,who got off his ass and scavenged through piles of books and other assorted debris just for you and the Vonnegut book is "Sirens of Titan".Jerry loved it,but sadly I haven't read it-yet.
Yeah slaughterhouse five is a fine book and movie.

I want the Chinese New Year, 1993 at Oakland Coloseum, Ca. Micky had the sound wired in a circle, around the coloseum. Then he started playing with one of those Tibeten singing bowls, and it gave me the experience of being inside the bowl, inside the sound! Potentiated by some of the most pure acid I've ever had, I shall never forget it. Btw, Jerry was sounding really good that night. I listened to "Althea" everyday for a month after that show. Miss them days.......

Some of those Betty Board sound crisp but that's the only good thing I can say about them. Basically random shows plucked out of nowhere with nothing special about them. Others though... damn!! They are the bomb! Kezar 5-26-73 is one of my favorite Betty boards, the China>Rider is a real work of art, and Betty put inflections in the rhythm to make it sparkle and shine. If your 5/26/73 is like most people's, the China Rider is obnoxiously cut between the end of one tape-side and the start of the other, but with a little work it can be patched back together.

I met Jerry once LOL I was so stunned all I could say was "hi" :o he was polite & smiling & asking the caterers to find him some red meat / a good steak as they kept trying to serve him falaffels & all this veggie shit. Just cracked me up as the deadheads are all running around the parking lot eating veggies & tofu their idol is back stage grubbing out on a juicy steak.
ok my stupid Jerry story:rolleyes: t hat was back stage in either 89 or 90 at RFK. I bought a fake ticket in the parking lot & some road crew guy saw me & felt sorry for me so took me back with him. I got to hang out on the soundboard too for Edie Brickell but they kicked me off when it was time for the Dead to come on LOL guess they wanted me out of the way for the *real* work.:p regardless it was a fun night for sure & I still have my little back stage pass stored away somewhere. Oh I got to hang out with the dudes that operated that big skeleton that year on their bus & smoke some good pot with them that was fun too.:)

I will agree that 9 out of ten are crap in terms of SHOW quality.. SOUND quality is ALWAYS a 9.5++
BUT having said that, the FOLLOWING Betty boards will be posted very soon (I'm allocating more space now!) .. so check it:
