i could use all the advice possible from everyone with this question. within like the last 2 weeks i have been iv/ing my morphine avinzas 30mg and my 4mg dilaudids. the first couple of days i was horrible and was just sticking my arm everwhere and fuckin it up, well it never fully hrealed or recovered and i was always pretty careful to not poke and area i had messed up a little.
but as of today from like 3 to 7 i shot 4 dillaudids in which half of it dumped outa the spoon, and also 4 avinzas. sometime around 8:30 or 9 tonight i noticed my hand and forearm arte quite swolen and those where the areas i stuck today. does anyone know what this means, or if anyone has had this happen to them, or what i can do to keep the swelling down, or if i need to go get it checked out like right away as in tonight.
PLEASE respond soon with comments its startin to worry me a little!

did you miss the vein, did you notice a lump at the injection site forming? Did you get a good rush when you did the shot(s)?
I never miss or get swollen areas, but from what I've heard a hot towel commpress on the swollen area could help

im pretty sure i didnt miss but it took a few pokes for me to find the vein and some movin around to get it in, i didnt really notice a lump but throughout my left arm it was swollen like a tiny bit in a few places already, and yes i did get a rush from all of em i mean i guess one or two of em could have slipped out a little or something like halfeway through thats always a possibility

Whoa, you must be freaking out to start 3 threads (one in the Morphine, one in the Hydromorphone, and one in the Incidentals)... well atleast your in the right forum now, moderated by health professionals whom I believe get an email everytime a thread goes up in this section. I have been fairly lucky in my IV'ing career and have never had one but it sounds to me like you got yourself a missed shot. What I know about those is to put a warm compress on it (hahaha, when I thought I missed alittle last week I was thinking cold for some reason) and watch for signs of infection. Is it red? Warm to the touch? I don't know, like I said I haven't ever really missed a shot, I'm sure someone on here will have some more advice for you soon, til then get a warm compress on that bitch. Damn, missing with pill shots is the worst too; good luck.

It sounds like you could be getting an abcess, if so, go directly to the ER!!!!. Left untreated, you could become"aseptic", meaning the infection could quickly spread throughout your entire body. NOT something to "wait and see" about. Be gettin' your butt to the DR, Now!

Also be aware of stuff like body chills(indicative of a fever), is the area getting hard and /or hot to the touch? Throbbing? Just feeling "sickly?" All/some of these symptoms can be the precursor of an infection/abcess, which in any event is not ok and needs to be treated. The Dr. may want to put you on an antibiotic just to be on the safe side. I ain't no Dr., but both my kids are still alive. so that must account for something. Let us know how you're doing.

I've heard of the injection sites swelling and maybe turning red....But not your whole arm and hand.....that would be kinda scary to me....if it continues to swell or if you see red streaks , do have a doctor check it out....I'm not sure what you would tell them , they tend to frown on things that you have done to yourself, ....like the time I pierced the skin between my thumb and index finger and it got infected....doctors just don't like to deal with self induced injuries, a injury is an injury in my book , but that is just what I have seen and heard from others similar experiences....BUT, if it gets worse you might end up having to swallow your ego and go in to have it checked....there are herbal antibiotics such as grapefruit seed extract (GSE) and also silverbiotics...silver biotics supposidly even cures food poisoning and kills all types of bacteria...GSE is good also , strong enough to kill all my good bacteria and cause thrush (yeast infec) in my mouth, usually something only a really strong antibiotic would do....I'm no Doctor , nor do I play one on TV......Just MHO of the whole situation......God, MSIR's make you go on and on and on...... I'm done rambling....pg
The only time this happened to me,I'd hit a nerve. If it doesn't get better or you notice other symptoms-get your ass to a docs.
I hate giving health advice on line and in my opinion ALWAYS better safe, than Sorry.
Good luck with it man.

Git to the ER right now and be completely straight with them. If you are where I think you are do not go to Lapeer Hosptal, go to McClaren in Flint. And Fucking hurry. How you gonna wipe your ass with no arms?

GO to the ER NOW. You don't want to deal with an abcess, or infection or sepsis, a blood poisoning. This shit ain't nothing to fuck around with. Don't lie about this one, you have to be honest.

i wouldn't be in that big of a rush.. sounds like you're saying its just the areas where you've been shooting... if you have any anti=biotics, take some, otherwise use a warm (not hot) compress.. unless you're a while away from the last shot, and its not a miss, then just use a cool compress..
if you keep hitting your hands and forearms they're gonna swell where you hit them... please report and be very clear about what is swolen, for how long, if its just where you're shooting, or if its away from there...
some of us (like me) with sensitive skin just have more swelling like that...
also try to take some benadryl (diphenhydramine)
i'm moving this to a harm reduction forum where a med pro can help..
