I've just though about this, the G-zoga b-ball players made me think of it; I've got/had, will have shrooms growing ALL OVER the horse crap in the paadock, god knows how many I step on all the time - But anyone know, if I post a pic or can tell me, what I should look for for the GOOD kind.

Dude, some of the good kind look very similar to some of the bad kind. Pictures really aren't a safe way to go about it. If you want to get down to the nitty gritty you can look at spore size and other technical stuff like that, but make sure you know 100% what you are eating before you eat it. Most LBMs are pretty harmless, but if you get one that isn't harmless you can be fucked. Kind of like severe, acute apap poisoning. Takes a few days to come on and then you are too late.

Check out the Shroomery. It's kind of a cool site if you sift through some of the junk. Some neat stuff and good info on there about how to go about IDing LBMs, such as books to read, resources, etc. . .

Been a while since I have been there, but it is kind of like Erowid with a community if I remember right. More of a focus on psychedelics obviously. But a fun place to poke around for a bit.

Be fucking careful, man. Please, please at the very least have a micology book with pics close by cause chem ain't lyinmg when he says that the good ones can practically mimic the ones that could off you. Unless you hrew them yourself (ie with aspore kit, mycelium etc.) it is risky just picking them and identifying them by eye.

For example really excellent P.Cubensis that I know of are short little fellas, with blue tops (they bruise blue) and thin, almost creamy colored stems; about 2 and a half inches tall. That is one of probably hundreds of species of "magic" mushrooms. Consequently, a "death cap" native to the Northeast US (where I live) looks almost *identical* to the harmless cubensis. But the death cap'll fuck you shit up, man.

well there aren't many easier things in life than picking the right shrooms if you've done it before. every daytripper must have a psychonautic mentor or guide and this would be one of their duties... to teach you which cow shit patty shrooms are the right ones.

Most psilocibe mushrooms turn blue when you bruise the stem. This is also true for Psilocibe Cubenses, the species most likely to be found in your area. If you don't have someone experienced to help you pick you MUST do a spore print to confirm it is the correct species. This can easily be done by cutting the cap off and placing it on a sheet of white paper with an upsidedown cup over it. In 6-12 hours many of the spores will drop onto the paper leaving a 'print'. If the print is purple in color, you have the real deal.

Great topic. 2 things. Do thoese do it your self home grow kits realy work, and apparently their easy to! has anyone had any success with these? A link would be very helpfull.
One of my most memorable experiances with these happened just a few months ago. I ate about 4 grams of very high quality product along with at least 750mg of vitamin c.
I was tripping out while watching Fear and Loathing. As i felt i have so many times before. I probably have. But anyhow, this sence trigured a sence of dejavu so strong that i came up with the theory that time isent linar but rather segmants floating in space. Some segmants runs into you, but each moment lives on in space forever, Its possible for the same segment to hit you again.
But anyhow, enough with the nonsensical foolishness. After i watched people form in my sink for a while, While listening to Nirvanas Lithium. I decided to wash the coating off my Oxycontin 80. I busted it while it seemed as if Kurt was speaking directly to me in that bathroom. Then an another, much less known Nirvana song came on, Here She Comes, described the scean perfectly. She was comming.
And come she did, and almost me to. I had little tolerance because i had recently taken a break. After about 3 minutes I was swept away(off of about 40 mg, leaving the other half allready broken up to be had later) I landed in my roomates bed(he wasent home) nodding harder and better then i ever had in my life. Pshycodelic patterned flowers forming, just beauty in its purest form was shown to me.
Then i was taken there, I was swept into a clearing in the forest, with light seeping through the branches hanging over, light dancing upon the ground next to me. I knew this place, i had once gone here, and for some reason, pictured that heroin would get me back. It hadent, but this had. Note ive never banged H, and that might do it, but i wont.

Do a spore print, check for blue bruising etc. Also be careful and don't get arrested for trespassing. I used to love fungus but man that was the first pyschedelic I stopped using. Now I can only do MDMA. I like my occasional L trip but I need something for the comedown.

Ah... mycology. Now THAT's something I definitely know a decent bit about.

If there's a lot of horseshit and straw/hay around, then there's a good likelihood that the Psilocybe mushroom Panaeolus Subbalteatus is around. Different regions of the US are better suited for different types of shrooms.

Washington and Oregon grow abundant supplies of Psilocybe Semilanceata, or Liberty Caps. Florida has a lot of Psilocybe Cyanescens. Indiana is a crap state with virtually no magic mushrooms growing naturally outdoors. Come to think of it, there's aboslutely nothing good about Indiana whatsoever.

Anyway, the best advice is to get a field mushroom guide and a guide specifically for the psychedelic mushrooms so that you can positively ID most mushrooms you come across. But if it has these features, it will almost always be a magic mushroom:

Blue-greenish bruising of the stem
Purple spores

Be VERY careful with identifying mushrooms before you eat them, and when it doubt, throw it out!

Ha! SWIM just scored what appears to be a Hershey's chocolate bar and each square has 2.5-3g in it @ $20 a square. Swim only ate one because it was free :p but it should be about enough to get a nice little trip. Hoorah!
