Went to the doc yesterday. It went pretty good. I told him the percocets just weren't cutting it anymore, & the demerol for bt pain didn't last but about 1 1/2 hrs. He was having a BAD morning, a patient in the next room had just got caught w/ pain meds on him w/ the docs name on the bottles, he was a imagrant with fake id's & I think he had jaked someone's med records and had got caught by the law. I heard the whole thing from my room. Anway's When I asked for my meds to changed for the 1st time he got a little pissy. Then He asked what (I) thought would work. Being an opioile I said OPANA! :) He said ok. put me on 10mg Opana ER twc a day & 20 pecs. He only gave me a 2 week supply have an appnt. in 2 weeks for check up, if not working he said he would up the dose. Get to the pahrmacy they said none. would have them in tommorro morn 10:00am. Can't waaaaait!!! I will let U know how they work. Sorry for rambling about the other patient, BUT DAMN THE LYNIG ILLGALE PRICKS WHO "WILL" fck it up for all of us!

i'm jealousssss :p do you think that your going to have to increase your dose next time? well post back and tell me how good it is when you get it, im curious. im really suprised that your doc gave you what you asked for. my docters are usually so mean and if i mention one thing they put me on another. and especially if the guy before me just got in trouble with medicines my doc would be such a dick.

Hey yall!
I just got prescribed Opana 5mg, and its the IR not the ER. I will let yall know if the Instant release is any good or not. I have a few other posts about this drug. I have NOT taken it yet, i took 50mg of percocets because they had to order the opana, and thats what the doc told me to do. Stick with the percs untill the opana comes in. He told me to take how ever many i needed for the pain and he would refill it next appountment. So after these wear down in a couple of hours, I will take a few and let you know how they are. If 1 (5mg) Instant relase doesnt work, then ill let u know how 2 (10mg) will work, so on and so on. From awesome dudes on here and some classroom studies, I know that opana how poor bioavialability, so from what i know 10% is the actual oxymorphone utilized in opana. AKA 10% of the pill is the stuff that works. So if i use a 5mg IR pill then i should get .5mg of oxymorphone. If that trend continues then 10mg would yield a 1mg dose. Is there any knowledge on how many mg have to ACTUALLY BE UTILIZED; AKA OXYMORPHONE THAT BINDS TO THE UM RECPETORS IN THE BRAIN, to get a decent buzz and a decent amount of pain relief. This may be the junky in myself talking, but when i get the euphoric buzz, thats when my pain is virtually gone. Let me know how anyone elses experience with the IR tabs go, as well as the ER's!
later!

I took the Opana (both ER and IR) for a month at the end of last year, when I stil had health inurance. Even with group coverage, the script cost me 50 bucks for each (60 of the Opana ER 20mg and 60 of the Opana IR 5mg). If I had had not inurance, the cash price for the Opana 20 were $345 and the Opana 5 were $145!) That was almost $500. That's pretty steep, considering oxymorphone isn't something new. What the heck do I know, though?

Those drug prices are nothing! My sub script is almost $700/bottle without insurance (thank god I have it)!

I got a bunch of the 40mg Opana and I have to say...they were very disappointing. They were the ER formulation though and I did everything under the sun to make them IR with no success.
I'm sure they are good for pain...but not much rec value if you have somewhat of a tolerance due it bio-availability. If you try to insuffilate the crushed powder...your nasal passages turn into a cement mixture within seconds. They really did well when it comes to "tamper proof" formulation of the med.

I've never run into Opana but here's one fool's opinion:
Opana is OXYMORPHONE right? Well maybe it's like HYDROMORPHONE ... damn near useless, until you IV it, and then it brings you to your knees and induces a near-religious experience.
Just a thought ... maybe I'm too optimistic ;) But if HYDROMORPHONE kicks HYDRYCODONE's ass, why doesn't OXYMORPHONE kick OXYCODONE's ass?? One would think...

Did you just pop "Opana", or was there some foreplay, as in "Ive heard good things about Opana for my specific type of pain [insert ailment]- what is your esteemed doc's opinion based on his expertise?" Seems like an encyclopedic example of drug-seeking behavior; what a nice guy! :p

Dear Lord, sweetie! The most I've ever had to pay for generic OxyContin (40mg) was about $230.00 for a 30-day supply of 60. The pharmacist where I go said the 80mg generics (Watson) are around $475-$500. Actually, the last time I got my 40mgs filled, the price had dropped a little bit from the previous month. Last month, it was $185. Strike that it fell a lot bit!!! That's $45.
It essentially meant I got my OxyIR 15's for free, since they cost about $35 to fill for 75 a month. I paid less last month for both of my pain meds (OC40 and OxyIR 15=$220) than I paid for the OxyContin in March ($230.00).
Heidi, you've probably know this already, but I will tell you anyway. There can be a huge variation in the price you pay for prescription drugs from pharmacy to pharmacy. The worst places for sticking it to you are Walgreens and CVS. For example, if your copay is $10, but the drug cost less than that straight cash (for example $6), I've had them charge me the copay instead! That's just robbing someone just because you can!
Almost always, the little mom and pop pharmacies (harder to find these days) are going to be really competitive with the big box stores. Plus, you almost always get better customer service.

The price of OXY has gone up DRAMATICALLY since all the generics are being HALTED. for example normal 360$ script for 60 just went up to 560.
