Daytrana - Transdermal Methylphenidate patches

I just got done reading the bottom of a post-it note that I got from my doctor's office and it is an advertisement for a new form of Methylphenidate (Ritalin) that is delivered transdermally; it's called Daytrana and of course it's CII. Anyone else heard about these?

It say's "transdermal system" I am just assuming that's a patch... what the hell else would it be, ya know?

they have a quicktime or WMV clip on their website.....basically yeah, just like the fent patch...the adhesive side is there to distribute the medication transderm while also adhering to the skin and keeping foreign things, contaminants out of the route of administration

(Shire is same the company in the US that is producing Adderall XR, BTW)

I skimmed through that link (not very indepthly though) and I couldn't find where it said how much medication is delivered or how much is contained in the patch; anyone know anything about that? My hypothesis on these things are they are going to suck ass recreationally. I am so fucking sick of this patch fad.

That's alot of drug to be absorbed through the skin for most people; maybe for people on low-dose maintainence like 10mg or something but I don't think there's anyway for someone on 100mg of Methadone a day to get any benefit out of a transdermal delivery system. I could see a Bupe patch... that might work. Don't give those bastards any ideas though.

in the UK there already is a transdermal buprenorphine patch. it comes in 35, 52.5 and 70 mcg/hour doses. it's trade name is Transtec, manufactured by Napp Pharmaceuticals.
there are new 5, 10 and 20 mcg/hour patches coming out called Bu'7rans (Bu-trans) which is marketed for pain in osteoarthritis. the 7 stands for 7 days as one patch lasts a week.

i am a case worker and we have a few kids on them. This way we dont have to go thru the hastle of having meds dispensed at school. works good on the kids on my caseload

Methadone transdermal would be impossible. You wouldn't absorb enough methadone to do anything if you went swimming in the liquid.

I'd have to fight hard not to accidentally dunk my head a few times...

I suppose it might *possibly* work if it was like one of those electric-fentanyl-patch PCA-like systems. Those are pretty interesting.

Wonder if I could get one o' them instead of methadone?

i've heard of them awhile ago, found a PDF about it on google, went to my doctors office and he had a daytrana pen...What I'm wondering is, whats preventing an alcohol extraction on it? :P

They are pretty awesome. Think methylphenidate 'ritalin' chewing gum. A LOT of the stuff is spread out into a very thin leaf of clear plastic, suspended in a thin film of silicone adhesive - it's not like a gel-filled patch - it's like a piece of scotch tape with speed in the sticky part. They squeeze 55.5mg of the stuff into a patch which is about 2 inches by 1 inch (and about the same thickness as a piece of tape).

Prolly could soak it in acetone or something to dissolve the drug, but I haven't tried that. As far as I know it's methylphenidate free base, so smoking the adhesive after scraping it off the plastic backing might be an option. I attempted this with a very small bit of the adhesive drug shit, but I didn't want to burn the whole thing up and waste it when I know for sure I can get good 'n wired from chewing on the thing for about 45mins- 1 hour.

Any feedback?
