A great question - there are several ways to do this, I'll explain a couple of different ones. They're both probably just as easy, but involve different steps.
Method 1:
Login to your 'User Options (http://forum.opiophile.org/usercp.php?)' and select 'Edit Signatures (http://forum.opiophile.org/profile.php?do=editsignature)' from the navigation bar on the left
There are many different ways to attach an image through the WYSIWYG editor, the easiest way is to find your image (on whatever page it may be on), right-click it, select 'copy', and then head back over to your 'Edit Signature', again right-clicking and select 'paste'.
Now that you have your image, adding a URL is just as easy. Highlight the image or text you're using in your signature, select the 'Insert Link' button from the WYSIWYG menu (http://forum.opiophile.org/images/darkblue/editor/createlink.gif), enter the URL, and that's it, you're done.
Method 2:
This is the method that I use and just as easy. It involves the use of common BB Code which can be used at almost any up-to-date forum. In order to use the BB Code tags, you'll need to understand how they work. The first, an image tag, works like this:
To display an image, encapsulate the image's URL within IMG tags, like so:www.imagefilelocation.com/image_file.gif(If you need the find the URL for an image, right-click it and select properties.
To create a hyperlink for a line of text, encapsulate the text with URL tags like so:This is Google (http://www.google.com)
So to create a hyperlink for an image, you would use this:http://www.imagefilelocation.com/image_file.gif (http://www.google.com)
So how do I get my image out there so I can link to/from it? A great question with many answers. You can use Yahoo's free photo album feature, or an image hosting service, or even the space available via your ISP (most ISP's offer a small amount of web space to their customers.)
