They take away my pain and help me enjoy my somewhat horrible life. I am thankful for everything I have. I would want to kill myself if I didn't have opiates to help my pain and make me feel less sick than I am.

Opiates are a double ended sword. They can be great and also be a curse. Right now I have the curse somewhat under control and I'm getting mostly good effects. Addiction sucks but pain relief is great and it's worth it if you ask me.

Now... What have opiates done for me? Here comes a rant!

They've given me the focus to get out of a major rut in my life. All I used to think about was getting high. Oh, wait I still only think about that, I even started a thread about that the other day. Err.. My other obsession in life was scoring chicks. Opiates put a stop to that. Now I haven't even got a girlfriend. Or got laid in an embarassingly long time (not as long as Greenfox though :p).

But seriously, I have a lot more focus when on opies, they motivate me big time and bring out creativity and compassion. When I'm opiated I'm a happy, nice, productive human being. I hate everything just a little bit less. ;)

I think Opiates help SWIM keep from drinking he had a two decade love affair with the jug.Today marks two years without a single drop of that astringent ethanol in his system.I still recalls his first encounter with opium back in 1982 Stuff called Budda Tai stick had a funky sweet smelling glaze on the hemp material tried to small stick.He was very young back then and was warned not to smoke it all in one sitting ,,of course he did and barely made it inside to put the old Beatles LP on SPLHCB and watch the dreams on the ceiling. He will never get that high again I bet.

They make me feel alive. They're a cure all that can really cure all. They are bliss, heavenly, sublime.

Of course this is just one side, you can take everything I said and apply it to them in reverse.

The highest I've ever gotten on opiates and most memorable/best time was when I hallucinated an angel talking to me all night. It was the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. I kept talking to her, and my wife who was sleeping next to me kept waking up and asking me who I was talking to. I was stuck between dreamland and being fully awake all night. I have yet to hallucinate again on opiates. I'm prlly lucky to be alive after this first eye opening experience with opiates.

Thats funny cause the first thing I thouhgt of was a black eye and waiting in cold sweats in a park and ride in stale heat of July.

My best experience may have been two summers ago. Basicallly its depcited in my avatar. Living in Cbus had been sober for a bit and that night I played drums for and entire street filled with people, people danced, a real sexy girl obviously high on X started kissing me after because I made here happy for the first time in a long time BUT, most importantly i got my hands on some opiates some kind weed and had amazing sex with an unfamiliar woman.. That night was a complete night in many ways and is an example of a fun night on opiates in a social situation.
Its hard to compare that to the many nights alone in a dark room or in a haze under the stars drifting in an out of consciouness continually dosing till morning. They are just as great in many ways but all together different.

Opes definitely helped inspire the creativity and concentration to some degree, I imagine. They are also an excellent "all around feel good" tool, IMO.

They take away my pain, dropping it from a 7-9, to a 3-4, sometimes totally gone. They make me hide things from my wife and deceive her, which i have never had to do in the past. They take away my depression, the depression that not haveing them cuases, along with some that i had already. They help me enjoy the sunrise it is so beautiful when i have my oxy's, or anything else. They get me outta the bed in the mornin and allow me to clean the house to have a sense of accomplishment, allow me to be able to go on long rides. They are the best thing that ever happend to me, they are the worst thing i ever discovered loosing. Overall i wouldnt trade it for the world.

Pretty much the same effects for me as everyone else has said. They give me energy when I need it, and they also extend my stamina when I've already got energy. But always calm, relaxed, easy going and friendly.

Its hard to admit, but some of my best times on opiates were the times when I was able to enjoy a full day like a 'regular person'..eg, work, chores, socializing..all without needing to take huge breaks in between.
