I started taking kratom about 2 wks ago to help w/ a PT problem (problem was I can't afford enough :D ). Now I usually smoke a pack of cigarettes, or 2 packs when drinking, a day... but the past 4 days I've had the same pack of smokes! Only smoked 3 today, which is unfathomable for me. Has anyone else noticed a lack of desire for nicotine while taking kratom?
My mom got a Wellbutrin script awhile back and read in its pamphlet that it was the same thing as that Zyban or some type of "stop smoking" drug. So she gave it to me. I took it for about a week and it had the exact same effects as this kratom may be having. Just wondering if anyone else notices these effects. Thanks in advance... L8

I've noticed this to some degree, but I smoke even though I dont crave. Tramadol makes ciggs disquisting to me. Wellbutrin made me not crave a smoke but have one anyways. Ever take a few (3-4) wellbutrin at once. I tried it after a friend told me it was kinda like E. It wasnt that great, and I cant play w/ such things right now do to other ssri activity and other factors but I didnt think it was that bad..., not to change the topic of your thread, or to suggests this is a smart thing to do in an attempt to catch a buzz.

are you drinking less? the short while that i was on and off both kratom and opiates, i smoked less on kratom simply because there was no way to smoke more than i did on opiates.
but its interesting, because nicotine receptors are part of the dopamine 'system' and wellbutrin works with them. pure agonists must not because we crave so much. any other theories on that?
this is interesting, worth checking out. but i quit smoking, maybe someone else can guinea pig?

That is an interesting thought. I have tried kratom plenty of times, and I am a smoker but I can honestly say that I didn't notice a difference either way--in other words i didn't smoke more or less than usual, about the same.
thats just me though

are you drinking less?
Nope.
Actually, opiates got me to stop drinking after a 13yr binge. Alcohol messed w/ my buzz so much that I stopped w/o a second glance.
I always thought I juggled my addictions (can't afford em all at once & it taxes the body), but now I see others are alike. Very cool thing. Thanks for the replies.

SWIM would only crave a smoke once he got drunk. Now that he is sober for two years when he gets shaky for a drink he has a smoke instead.Weird that when SWIM has a fun night of CWE he doesn't want a smoke at all.The stimulant /depressant combo of old gave way to the opiate/sedative combo of today.Except in times of extreme stress where SWIMs old mind wants to run back to the tavern.SWIM likes to notice these patterns so he can keep from the mistakes of the past.

I loved smoking when I was using H. Couldn't quite for the life of me. Funny that you should mention it as I don't crave nicotine when using kratom. Alcohol, on the other hand, makes me smoke a pack in just a few hours, even after 4 years of having quit. I can't have one without the other.

Yes, Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant but has most of the same ingredients as Zyban, so it is supposed to help with the oral cravings of smoking cigarettes. I find it helpful, been quit for two weeks now, fingers crossed.
