"Leader of Asbury Park Heroin Ring Arrested"

I wonder what kind of $$ these guys were bringing in? Federal officials have arrested the reputed leader of what they say was the number one heroin ring in Asbury Park.

The Drug Enforcement Administration says Kurtis ``Gotti'' Barnes likened himself to the late mob boss John Gotti.

Three reputed enforcers also were taken into custody over the weekend.

The D-E-A says the suspects sold heroin stamped with street names like ``Da wire,'' ``Funny Money'' and ``Black Rain.''

The suspects are charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess heroin. They would face from ten years to life in prison if convicted.

Bummer. I used to live right by there and believe me, that town NEEDS heroin. Blackdog knows what I'm talkin bout. doncha dogg? What a friggin ghetto. For those who dont know, this town is where the movie "City by the SEA" was filmed. I used to hang in that casino part, and it hasnt changed a bit gudging by the film. Asbury Park used to be a beautiful town. And then the race-riots started and the town was torn to shredds and burned, and was never rebuilt after the sixties. They got the jump out boys there and everything. I love that town.

No question. The funny thing is , is that it neighbors one of the wealthiest towns in New Jersey. Once you cross over that little bridge your looking at Billy Joels summer get-away mansion. Asbury Park is a town that has died. Granted the Stone Pony's there, but you walk a block east and you'll git shot fer bein a white dude on the wrong block. Asbury has been and always will be the center of the drug industry of the north jersey shore, and I'm glad it is because its confined in its own element and feeds itself like any other place like it. It's just too bad they took down the old funhouse. Easiest block to score on, well, one of fifty.

I remember reading about the 17 people busted last July in the asbury park press as well. I guess it is part of the Asbury rejuvinationprocess that they are trying to do. The jump out boys suck too,having to avoid any van when driving down Sylvania or 4th. I had a 2 friend's who were going to cop some dope on there bikes andcops stopped them and proceded to tell them that the town was 98% black and what were 2 white dudes doing going down that street(probably looking for the hanging shoes). After that one of the kidsstarted to get loud with the cop. The cop then told him if he didn't shut the fuck up he would slam his head on the hood and haul him in. After finding nothing on the loud kid they told them not to come back. Once let go they ducked around the corner and gotthere dope and returned back to Bradley.
On a side note that sucks they tore down Tilly and his face will be in some historical museum.

I used to live here back in 93. The town was so fucked up then it was like worse than ghetto it was a evil supernatural ghetto by the sea with a boardwalk. The meanest fuggin junkies there too. ALways in your face on the beach flickering crack lighters. I remember trying scoring here when I just started out . . . with my ex girl Heidi RIP
