I'm not looking to use Kava, but I had a question about it.

I've used the stuff a few dozen times, and I've written an article or two about it for HealingHQ.com (net? one about Kratom too you should check out!).

However, one of the Kava articles I was working on involved me doing product testing. I enjoyed the process of getting the free samples from various manufacturers, but one of the manufacturers products caused me to get very sick- vomiting blood and an extremely low pH in my stomach. My blood even became slightly acidic, and I was given bicarb and kept for observation (didn't tell them what I took, though)

Now, I didn't think much of it at the time, but another time I made a high-quality Kavalactone paste that I smoked like crack. I gotta smoke everything at least once! It made me agree with the Erowid writer who called it "Kava Crack"- one hell of a rush- that's for sure! I didn't pass out, but it sure as fuck wasn't something I expected from an herbal. I've had weaker rushes from IV'd heroin- and I've only did that a few times (who says you can't go back!)

When I did it that way, I also ate some, and I ended up having one hell of a painful stomach ache and vomited a lot of acid a few times.

I wrote it off as the result of having some residual isopropyl alcohol in the paste. I couldn't smell anything, but who knows.

But that wasn't a possibility when I made the tea from the other vendor. It scared me enough that I never used Kava again.

Any idea if this could be an allergy- anyone else experience?
