Recently i have been doing smitch (ritalin dont ask me why me and my freinds call it that) on a daily basis (my frend has adhd) i find it very nice pleasent high and love to kick my day off to 20 mgs of rit and pop them though out the day. but i have began to notice that that my heart beats at around 90-130 when relaxing or trying to sleep (it is awfull when you try to sleep and you are totally wired i find it hard to sleep hours after riting it up) and it can stay like this for 7 hours. Now i know you are thinkin that i am just being daft and that its stimulant affect that pounding my heart but i have read on erowid that ritalin should stop being stimulating after 3 hours but its not the case with my heart. I Have bad blood pressure is that why or do i have a bad heart and should stay away from stimulant because of risk of a heart attack?

if you keep popping and have been way over 'clinical levels' then you could easily keep your heart rate up over more than 3 hours.

Also once you start listening you make yerself nervous and that probably makes it worse.

If you're worried, take a break. And the answer is yes, rits can fuck up your heart. And having an elevated heart rate for long periods of time can fuck you up too.

I'm going to move this thread to harm reduction so you can get some advice from one of our resident nurses.

Did you say or mean you have high blood pressure? If you do, I would advice you stop doing this! YOu stated above,"I have bad blood pressure." If you have been diagnosed with any heart trouble I would suggest you stop. Having an increased heart rate like that for 7 hours can lead to some pretty troubling problems. I highly advise you stop taking the Ritalin....Sounds like your just popping them like candy!

Ritalin is just one of those drugs I just don't think should be fooled with unless your prescribed them by a doctor. And popping them throughout the day with blood pressure problems is asking for trouble. You could put yourself into a fatal arrythmia that way, I would think!

Gotta go with Candy on this one 100% stop that crap if you have hypertension. If you don't yet have serious heart diease you are just creating prime conditiond for it. Ritilian is not candy and can do some serious damage to the heart esp. if you have a pre-existing condition.

Listen to flip and candy please! If you have hypertension (high blood pressure) any type of stimulant puts you at an increased risk for heart attack and/or stroke. Strokes can be devastating. I have seen first hand what it takes to recooperate from one. My father has had two, the most recent was last week, he also had a heart attack at the same time. He has hypertension and was taking pseudoepherine, which is closely related to amphetamines. He has lost his vision because of this, it may or may not return. Don't take the chance, please!!!!

It might be nothing or it might be something. Why take the risk?

Stop immediately. I went into cardiac arrest the first time after fooling with ritalin/withdrawing off methadone at the same time.

short term use of stimulants will make your heart stronger.

If you don't die. Longterm use of stimulants causes left ventricle hypertrophy. Which you don't want.

catecholamine induced cardiomyapothy. So yeah, take frequent breaks and let your body heal.

Exercise makes your heart stronger. Stimulants only cause your heart to beat harder and faster without the the added benefit of increased oxygen, something you do get with aerobic exercise. The theory sounds great but doesn't add up in the end. Your heart beating faster and harder while you are at rest is a recipe for disaster, if you have hypertension you are already at risk why tempt fate be adding Ritalin, if you really insist on doing a stimulant at least pick a good one like cocaine, or pure amphetamine. My advice is to stay as far away from them as possible if you have any heart problem or high blood pressure, PLEASE<
