Has anyone had any experience trying Laurelia Novae-Zelandiae? Christ, cannot even spell it let alone say it. Also called Puketea or NZ sassafras? I know you can order it from phytoexactum. I have read a few threads here and there on other forums about how it is like Morphine. Has somewhat the same feelings and effects and opiate in Nature. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. :-) ...

I believe this is a dopamine agonist. maybe a mild stimulant? I've read it causes analgesia, that's probably true, but I don't think it's an opioid.

one of the active compounds is pukateine...a dopaminergic compound.

I have consumed a fair amount of this good tasting tincture. it does take an edge off of withdrawl slightly, and it does produce some mild stimulation.
I have had two cases of the extract causing anxiety/panic attack/and chest pain...or more like tightness in the chest. I was using doses far in excess of the recomended amount, which seems so minimal that I wouldnt have noticed anything from.

the data suggesting pukateine was morphine like is REALLY old, outdated, and presumptious.

I have seen the tincture rubbed topically on a painful rash that we didnt know the cause of take away alot of pain quickly. so the stuff has been of some use to me over time.

I have not dried any of the tincture out, and smoked the material. this is the way I would think that this compound would be more effective. it doesnt have much of a recreational appeal I would think.

I did give some to a freind while we were working together. he has a big problem with methamphetamine, and wanted something to get him through work. he took a large dose of the tincture, and was pleased with the stimulant effect, but nothing near close to a classic amphetamine.

I would really like to check out pure pukateine and compare effects to that of this tincture.

this species of tree is also called new zealand sassafras.

I'm sure if it was any good us drug-deprived New Zealanders would be abusing the hell out of it! :D

Wonderful points Jacky and to all. Thanks. I have been told that it helps quite a bit with withdrawals and does give somewhat of a stimulant edge, but not very interested in the side affects you had with the panic and anxiety. I am very tolerant to opoids but it seems everything new I try (kratom, "tea") ends up with me running to the po-tya! Thanks again.

a doctor in new zealand has used this plant for detoxing methadone addicts I believe. he also used kratom and a list of other herbs to help ween/detox methadone patients.
I wrote him a letter of support, but he never replied. this was quite awhile ago.

Thanks Jacky. Good to know. I had read an article from someone that uses it to replace his morphine stating that it had similar effects, so I know phystoexactum sells it so I was just wondering if it was any good or if anyone here has ever tried it?

I think also that there are some compounds in this extract that possibly could be decent mdma precursors.
but I could be wrong.

it definitely is an interesting material, and is something that I will inevitably use again. I had a few panic type of situations when taking this stuff, but only for short periods of time. it was also known that I had no reason to panic, just that I had physical symptoms, and mentally I was aware that it was nothing to let worry me. basically just ride out the physical effects.
that is what I get for taking larger amounts past what is recomended.

one thing I noticed with this pukatea extract is that when I was on dxm the extract became more potent, and reminded me somewhat of cocaine. but that is in conjunction with a very psychoactive compound....
