Here's some questions I was rolling around in my head while I couldn't sleep last night. I'm gonna ask a few theoretical questions which I think would be interesting to gather some opinions on and share them with each other. I'll provide my own answers after all questions are asked. Pose some questions of your own!

1. Would you either legalize heroin/your drug of choice for all, or have a free, basically infinite supply ONLY for your own use, and a guarantee that you'd never get caught?

2. If you found a time machine to the late 19th century and had one of these two things you could possibly bring back, would you bring back a bottle of Vin Mariani wine (cocaine-laced wine) or a bottle of over-the-counter Bayer heroin? When you got back from the time warp, would you sell it or use it :D

3. Would you rather have a good doctor who'd legitimately prescribe you as much OxyContin as you wanted, or would you rather have a heroin dealer who would be there on time, every time, have good H, and not ever run out/get caugt (but the possibility of you getting caught still exists)?

4. An ounce of pure cocaine (only for your own use) or a bottle of Louis XIII cognac (over one grand, pretty much the most expensive current commercially sold alcohol in the world)? Not getting caught on the llello is guaranteed.

My own answers:

1. I would go to legalize it, mostly for strong political ideals.

2. I'd get Vin Mariani, but probably sell it in the black market.

3. Since I'm rather paranoid of getting caught, I'd go for the OC script.

4. This one's the toughest for me to decide. I guess I'd go for the Louis cognac, since there'd be no w/d's after finishing it, even though the ounce of coca would last much longer.

Interesting, I always love the "out there" hypotheticals...

1) Legalize for all, what kinda selfish bastard do you think I am?:)

2) OTC Heroin, and it would neither be used or sold but put on the top of the top of my trophy case (which I would have to build for this).

3) B, never getting caught, always on time etc. H is better and quite not that much more (from what I hear) than OC bought at a pharmacy. Never mind the street prices.

4) Absolutely the ounce. What would I do with the wine that I couldn't do with a bottle of MD-20/20?

5) The hardest question: If I read it right, absolutely not! However if the question was the same except that after the 5 years or so the drugs action permanently erased the potential for tolerance and physical addiction, I'd do my best to get by for 5 years for that pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow!!!

It has to be free for everybody. 99% of the pain, death, and damage that heroin causes is because of heroin LAWS and not because of heroin.

If heroin was legalized, I don't think some people could handle it, so I'd rather have my own supply since my drug of choice is legal by script. But I'd share with friends and such.

This is the hardest one for me. The free OC with Doctor's blessing takes out alot of hassle, but if you can get me that good of an H dealer and the only thing that could fuck it up is ME getting caught, fuck I'll take my chances I'm a careful mother fucker anyways.

Nice to see my little thread caught on here. Interesting answers. I like how most of you would be altruistic with #1, but even the dissenting opinion had some truth in it.

I've thought of three more:

1. For the gambling types: select your drug of choice. You've paid 100 dollars and the sneaky dealer presents to you two options. In one hand he actually has $150 worth of your vice, but in a questionable generic (assume a generic exists). In the other hand he has $300 worth of the brand-name stuff, but there's a 50% chance it could be a harmless fake. If your drug is H or whatever illegal, then one hand holds your typical stuff, while the other has a half chance of holding $300 pure (or Hens&Chicks, whatever) or a harmless fake. Which hand do you pick?

2. This is similar to #5 above. You've detoxed but life has pushed you back to the brink (we ALL know how it is ...). You warn your doctor, and find out that there is a "microchip" that he wants to put in your brain for free, that will dispense the identical effect of your drug of choice at timed intervals and effects that will get you minimally high just enough to keep you from using again. However, a hacker creates a program where you can dispense the "effect" whenever you want, but you've discovered from others that it's so mentally addicting (with no physical side effects) that people just sit for days on end clicking on the button, and have lost jobs, family, etc. Do you do this thinking you have enough self-control or do you go on with your new "clean" ways? (Idea actually taken from a sci-fi short story).

Few more:

1. Some crazy country on a similar living scale as yours legalizes everything, but everything's twice as expensive even though it's all clean. You're offered a job at the same pay (with drug restrictions not mandated by law still extant in the company), and at the same standard of living. Do you uproot yourself/family and move for it?

2. It's WWIII/Another Katrina/etc. and law enforcement has ordered you to leave. Do you stay, knowing you can loot (with danger from elements, other robbers, etc., but with very little chance of getting caught by the law) or do you seek safety first and start anew in another city, at least for a while?

3. A program involving a medical grade of your DOC has been established by a government program. They choose you as part of the "test cases." You get as much as you want, at the highest quality, for free for a year. Your doses are to be given by a doctor in your usual setting to prevent OD, and scripts are given to prevent you getting nailed. You are detoxed after the year is over (but of course you can go back to "before then" :) ). However, the government program turns out to be the DEA, and they want to document your year as a "special" to be available to the public to view the "effects of long-term drug use" on relationships, etc. Do you sign the dotted line, knowing you'll get what you want when you want it but also knowing your friends, family, employer, and many strangers could see you on TV?

4. Your uncle is Bill Gatees, and he gives you a blank check to get off of all drugs (including legal ones not for medical use, like alcohol and nicotine). Separate checks will cover detoxing and paying for lost wages. How much would you write your blank check for?

5. THE CLASSIC QUESTION: You warp back in time to the second before you make the decision to use your DOC for the first time. You have the opportunity to change that decision then return to the present. Do you do it for the first time again, or do you deny the opportunity and see how things are now (given you will come back alive)?
