Has anybody seen these pink pills, and does anybody know if they can be used IV? A friend has a bunch of these instead of the regular Abbott 8s and I'm wondering if the Extended Release is going to get in the way.

I'm used to just breaking a 8 in half and smashing it to powder, and pulling the liquid into a point through dental cotton.

Is there a way to do something similar with Purdue's ?

If it helps, here is a description of these exact pills:

http://www.rxmed.com/b.main/b2.pharmaceutical/b2.1.monographs/CPS-%20Monographs/CPS-%20(General%20Monographs-%20H)/HYDROMORPH%20CONTIN.html
____
6 mg: Each pink, controlled release capsule, imprinted with the letters PF and HYDROMORPH CONTIN, and the strength 6 mg, contains: hydromorphone HCl 6 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, dibutyl sebacate, ethyl cellulose, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, magnesium stearate and microcrystalline cellulose. Polypropylene bottles of 50.
___

Thanks for any advice, I really appreciate it. I mean, a LOT. I'd be lost without my favorite weekend relaxers...

On the good side, Oxy IR 30mg has made its way to my area - $15/tab seems fair for those, doesn't it? I mean, mg for mg, thats the same price I currently pay for regular Purdue OCs...

I'm going to answer myself just for posterity and for people who use the search engine, since I did and couldn't find this answer.

Apparently the Purdue dillies will IV fine, using one of the crisping methods. I haven't tried it, but this is what I've read elsewhere.

Yeah, I was going to recommend crisping myself. I haven't had any experience with those pills but I KNOW that they would have some type of abuse proof mechanism and I doubt that it would be a simple press issue like with the oxys; that list of inactives look's nasty, while I can't tell you anything from that (cause I don't know what they use to fabricate those damn gelly abominations) but I feel fairly certain that if crisping didn't do the trick that hot/colding with a few washes would. Worst case senario if you can't crack 'em is just crush to powder and dissolve it in alcohol or water for 24 hours or so, filter, and dry.

That's really cool, I appreciate it tptptp. The sacrifices people will make for one another here are just amazing. :)

Thanks chemboy7 - I didn't know that was possible/safe to do with alcohol. I assume EtOH as strong as possible would be best, wouldn't it?

SWIM has the option of 4mg Abbott or 6mg Purdue, so I think I'm just going to stick with what I know. The Abbott are slightly more expensive mg-for-mg, but those 4mg yellow goodies are easy. It is worth a small difference in price to know that things are going to go the way SWIM expects, especially when the "going-on" is happening inside SWIM's circulatory system.

I'll try some of the 6mg too and post results just for the hell of it, but as soon as I saw that dreaded ER I knew it was going to involve more caloric expenditure than I'm accustomed to. :)

Hi hendricksj61, welcome!

The easiest way to find the answer to questions like that is just to hit the Search button in the menu at the top of the page. It should be right between "New Posts" and Quick Links".

If you type crisping into that engine and do the search, it will show you all of the threads about the topic, and you can find all that you want to know.

For instance, the acronym SWIM refers to Someone Who Isn't Me. It is a good idea to use this when things are related that you don't want to relate to yourself. In other words, I have a friend (henceforth referred to as SWIM) who takes illegal drugs. Just a quick tip, because a lot of people ask about it after they have been on this site for a short time.

In short, crisping refers to crushing up a pill and heating the crushed powder, in order to defeat certain types of time release. It is useful for a number of different kinds of pills, and although styles of doing it may vary, it is basically all variations on the same theme.

I think a lot of people use 1cc insulin points, SWIM uses them for IV himself. Lately he has even been using .5cc points for sheer ease, although he has learned that for pills, a larger quantity of water is often necessary, so more shots - SWIM would rather just use the larger 1cc rigs, they're not a problem. SWIM has done IV shots with 3cc 26g needles, but those knock a pretty big hole, and SWIM is a little squeamish. There are people who really DIG using needles, then there are people like SWIM who sees them as a means to an end.

Once upon a time, SWIM was scripted k4's and lovenox. the lovenox came in these perfectly sized little rigs that were really easy to use. Do the lovenox, rinse the rig.. yeah.. Even with bad veins, it was a two minute trip to the bathroom to get fixed up. It was too easy to premix about 4 to last through the night (night shift fuckin rocked back in them days, and even the indy winters werent as bad)

Fucking snow before halloween, for the love of god (in whatever incarnation)

Yeah that place sucked, except for the hospital across the river.
