I can't believe it! Right now, on CNN, they are saying Supreme Court Justice Rehnquist was way strung out on Placydyl...unbeievable what I'm hearing. I never thaught I'd hear this, I mean, they are talking crazy, court cases being thrown out, possibly...am I tripping?

As you know, addiction hits all socioeconomic classes, despite what "they" tell you. My question is, who the fuck are they, and what the hell do they know? I checked google, and no, you aint trippin. Read several articles confirming it.

Oh yeah, different rules for "the ruling class"...Forget who it was but some high up politician get busted (by the press) for being prescribed ritalin and/or benzedrine for depression for 30 years! Good luck on anyone here or anywhere getting that for depression.

And drug war asshole of the century Harry Anslinger personally arranged for the maintainance with morphine/etc. for some US representative who was a junkie (or I guess he'd be a "habituee") for a number of years in the 50's. This is the same guy who went after all kinds of doctors as a cop then as head of the old FBN (predecessor to the predecessor of the dea) for trying to prescribe opes for addicts back in the really bad old days. Fucking hypocrites...

Fuck, and it seems like a whole generation of Kennedys were always getting cracked for heroin. One of'em o.d.e'd and died down in Florida, another one got caught at some airport or another with about an ounce, if memory serves me well. Man, they made a lot more commotion when Keith Richards got caught, but shit...Rhenquist? Placydils. I mean, that was stagger around and fight drugs, not lay around and talk shit dope. I can just see him having to make some huge court decision, and all he's thinking about is those damn jelly reds in his pocket....

Maybe that's how all those forfeiture/mandatory minimums/other 80's drug war bullshit laws were upheld on appeal?!

Yeah him wall-banging on Placidyl is kinda old news. I always thought he was kinda a cool old dude; he didn't give a fuck what people thought. Sure he popped pills, slurred his words, and nodded off mid-sentence, he was also the first and only Cheif Justice to add 4 gold stripes to each of his judicial robes sleaves after seeing an actor in a play with a similar costume... wonder if that was a Placidyl moment. Hahaha. Hell, I like the guy... if he was still around he's one of those people I'd want to smoke a joint with and listen to his stories.

I really doubt they'll reopen cases and they shouldn't.It's quite possible to be an addict and function normally. The problem with Rhenquist's judgements are that he was a nazi, not that he was high.
It's not the socioeconomic background that bugs me because as someone pointed out addiction is an equal oppertunities condition. It's right wing anti dopers like Limbaugh using privately that makes me angry.I think it's called hypocrisy.

People like Limbaugh often do this as a defense mechanism....whenever something constitutes loose morals by society's standards - gambling, drug use etc. people that are afraid of loosing their self control sometimes go anti whatever it is in fear of loosing self control.
