OK~
I have used opiates for years..... not a cool thing....believe me. Most of the time I am a "weekend warrior," however, every now and then (maybe 2x a year) I wind up back on the daily -use train. Then I get to go through WD's. I have always done the good ol fashioned 8 days of hell w/ some Rum or Vodka, some diphenhydramine, and a TV... I always try...and I stress TRY... to do shit like mow the lawn or whatever to stay busy. I am hearing more and more about bupe and kicking. I've doin a lil research through threads here and at p.org, but most of what I find is people using bupe w/ opiates.... My questions are:

1. Is bupe something that will help get through the 8 days, and how much will it help?
2. I heard it is major expensive as I have no insurance and little cash as of current, so how to get?
3. What else would you think I need to know before getting into Bupe?

Thanks.....really!

I've kicked almost painlessly with bupe. My habits in using always bring me back to using, so I'm on the bup in a permanent way at the moment, but your days of suffering through all that shit are over, for the most part.

It is definitely expesnive; about $6 a pill. That's not including the $500 first time Dr's visit and then $50-$100 per visit after. I've maintained on temgesic before, a costly alternative but injectable (even if a little dirty, to say the least.)

Then of course you've got to deal with the fact that because it's so easy to kick, it's even easier to get loaded.

Your best bet is to get a hold of a handful of pills, see if it works for you, and then decide if you want to get on it permanently. I personally would rather use methadone every day rather than bup, but that's just me...

All I know is for me I want my Bupe.

I use it daily 2mg to 4mg a day.

It started using it as a pain med and to help with WD's from days of Opiate use for Migraines.

you will get a mild sickness when bupe wears off.

Prices vary wildly for bupe doctors there is no 'set' pricing criteria. It is a tad on the expensive side.

Recently I found a large pharmacy that sells 8mg tabs for 3.49 :D 112 tablets for $390 that right there would last me a good 6 months easy.

After being on bupe for 3 years I have found that low doses are just as effective as large doses which equals a large stash of meds for use if I am ever up a creek with out an opiate.

Yah its funny if you call a public clinic that does methaone the bupe program is almost always more expensive. And thats medication aside just for the clinic services involved. I wonder how many people get discouraged and go to methadone. At every clinic I have checked the price for a month of methadone treatment including medication is cheaper then just what the clinic charges your for bupe not including the medication. I don't know if this is because the clinic requires more then just one monthly dr. visit to get your bupe like a private physician does? Either way after trying both, I agree with bi11i I am much happier on methadone. Even though there is a good chance I might not ever get off the methadone at this point in my life I don't seem myself ever being opiate free anyway.
