SWIM's got a baby herb on the way

This was initially an attemp just to see if it could grow with nothing more than my desk lamp (natural light, and a seed found in some medicore chronic) and the result of being bored/ now i am kind of grown attached to the little guy, seeing as it's so damn cute. there may be more to it also, i've had thoughts to actually grow this little fetus up for harvest, but it's mid fucking full on winter. so there's probably going to have to be some research into some sort of delayed growth before it can be potted out doors (as it currently can't be done indoors for whatever reason).

so swim's got a pot plant growing. he found a seed in his bud and threw it in a cup of dirt and has had it growing under a regular old (natural color) light few several hours a day for about three weeks or so. to his surprise it's sprouted and is doing unusually excellent and is getting tiny little jagged 'fingers.' is it okay to post a picture for discussion? or is this topic completely uninteresting to you all? i'd simply take this discussion to a stoner forum, but i'd just like to make new friends on this forum with this discussion for lack of better things going on.

One thing I'll go ahead and say is PUT IT INTO SOME SOIL! As In the thing is way too far above ground. That thing need another 1-2in. into the soil!

nad It'd be better tos tart fresh fi you ask me... Like put 4-5 seeds about 2-3in into soil. They WILL sprout(like 80% of mature seeds will garminate). Ppl seem to think pot is somehting to get growing, but literly toss seeds into the ayrd and as long as they are kept moist they WILL GROW! I've tosse damny seeds into the ayrd when I sued to toke and once when someone was mowing they discovere dlike a 2ft plant by a tree that no one planted(yes im sure), it was from all the seeds we tossed out I guess.

but ya, put that one deeper into soil if u plan on growing it. Need any help cultivating plz lemme know! I'd help as much as I can. I dunno if u want help for cheap lighting u can go buy a tthe home depo or not though, so ya

yeah i was surprised how hardy it seems. also i was wondering about that long ass stem it has. i guess i'll push it into the dirt further. i didn't before because it seems like it moves a lot, like when the light goes back on it, you can literally watch it stretch it's little body out. but i cram it down in there a little better and stack some soil around the base...

looks pretty sweet.
as long as you keep light on it for 24 hours a day(at LEAST 18), it will not go into flowering, and just keep growing. you can do this and prune the top and other parts of it if it gets too big, then it will bush out and you will have a giant bushy plant when you DO plant it outside. every time you clip off the top of a shoot, 2 or more shoots come out from that one spot. ive had plants with as many as 8 top buds on one plant, probably could get WAY more if you tried.

but just keep it growing, prune if necessary, and be patient. you will want to fuck with it every day, but if you do, you will most likely kill it. just leave it alone, water it when it needs it, and just check on it every other day or so.

well that's the problem i'm afraid, i can only average 6-8 hours of light on it. so i'm probly going to have to trash it soon or give it away before it gets too suspicious. but we'll see what happens... i just added more dirt in the glass so there's about an inch and a half of stem above ground, best i could do without physically pushing it down.

I've been growing for 18 years. The reason you have a long stem on it is because it's not getting enough light. A white light bulb will not do. It will grow tall, have A lot of stem between very small leaves. Invest in a better light. Even a flourescent will do if you build it a small box and line the inside of the box with foil or mylar. Leave the light on 24 hours a day. That won't hurt it. Don't let it dry out completely, add a little nutrient and talk real nice to it. Keep saying "You're a girl, You're a girl" over and over again. You have a 50/50 chance...

i don't know if it makes a difference or not, but i have a 60wt natural light bolb (not a standard yellow house light) about 12" away from the little thing. it seems to be responding well to it, it will move towrd it when i turn it on within a half hour or so , as if it's got a hard on for the light.. ah shit maybe it is a male.

Of course it likes the light you have on it but for optimum growth you'll need a different light. There's a big difference between conditions at which a plant will stay alive and the conditions at which it will grow at it's full potential. Cannabis is very hearty as someone else has mentioned but there are also steps you can take to make a HUGE difference in it's full growth potential. Read some basic stuff on growing cannabis. Everyone who smokes it should be growing it. It just makes sense, I think.

just to update anyone who is interested. the poor plant is dead, r.i.p ... not that it wasn't thriving and growing, which it was. but i had someone transport it to their house (because i no longer wanted it and was going to toss it) and its poor little neck got broke in two places.. oh well.

i did accomplish what i sought out to do tho, and that's all that matters to me. i found that weed is easy to grow and it's pretty hardy and fool proof.
