I'm unfamiliar with part of those, so I'll take those as pointers. I don't think Boards of Canada ever produced anything that isn't extremely accessible, their music is something of ear-candy (say, like Aphex Twin is ear-wax candles). "Torquoise Hexagon Sun" (usually followed by "Smokes Quantity", or is it simply: "usually followed by smokes quantity"?) has become something of a tradition for me to be played when peaking to a nod. Though it doesn't usually constitute good listening music (unlike most of Aphex Twin's works, ambient works exlcluded).

For some real weirdness, try some Karlheinz Stockhausen and Edgar Varese, if only because it's great fun saying 'Karlheinz Stockhausen' out loud. Ligeti and Cage. Shostakovich and Stravinsky (in increasing order of accessibility). Actually, while we're at it, Beethoven and Bach have some pieces which can be quite shocking and provoking even to a modern ear.

haha, those names bring up memories... I used to spin those hardcore records in my rave days, the aphex twins are insane, ron d core is insane, have you heard the "all my life I wanted to be a gangster" excerpt from Godfather hardcore song??I think it's by Neophyte, another insane hardcore dj.... I used to throw that record on after a trance record and duck for cover....those were the good old weird days

I would consider most of the current product in popular music to not be real music.

I think that's what was also said about Elvis, The Beetles, and etc.

its certainly not the strangest but pretty interestestingly weird music I really like and appreciate - a band called "the books"

you can google them and basically listen to all their music on their website. pretty cool.

Boards of Canda, weird? Meh. Not really. Squarepusher neither. A bit eclectic, but nothing that stands out as particularly 'weird'. More of an argument for Aphex Twin. I've still to listen to Drukqs all the way through. I just don't have true grit.

BOC is definitely good music for a nod. Oh man, like seriously.

You guys might wanna check out Noah's Ark by Cocorosie. That's pretty weird, and good for a nod as well.

BLACK DICE! Fucking weird. I actually only own a remix EP ("smiling off"), but the main mix is crazy. Chaotic, off-time drums and primal screams.
