Ok, this probably going to be a lame thread, but what the hell. Has anyone been listening to anything lately that they've not in a while? If so, what, why haven't you been listening to it, etc? It doesn't have to be opiate-inspired.

For me, I've been listening to MM's AntiChrist Superstar, which I used to love, but haven't listened to it in about four years.

Right now I'm listening to the one about the dirty dirty rockstar, but I my favorites are the Beautiful People and Tourniquet. When I was a sophomore in college in 2000, before I took time off, I took this poetry class during winter term. It was about Greek and Latin poetry, but those languages have their poems in meters that are similar to music, so the professor had us bring in a new song each Thursday from contemporary music and we had to analyse the lyrics. One of mine was MM's Tourniquet, which freaked everyone out, but I always got an A because I can do a damned well analytical paper. I think the paper was about how the song was Manson's way of saying how society is fucke up because of how a tourniquet is both something that destroys and heals. I can't remember what the rest was about. But anyway, that was fun. I loved that class. So, that's what I've been listening to. Anyone else have anything to say?

Antichrist Superstar is the only MM disc that I really like, but I like that one a LOT.

I have been trying to dig up a copy of Bloodrock's album, the one with DOA on it. No luck so far, but I haven't put a whole lot of effort into it yet.

I've got mostly Current 93, Coil, This Mortal Coil, Death in June and Sol Invictus in the IPod right now. I listen to those all of the time though, so they don't really count.

Really? My favorite is by far the last album: The Golden Age of Grotesque. It's still industrial, but the sounds are more mature. It's not as muffled. I also love Mechanical Animals. I didn't care for HolyWood: In the Valley of The Shadow Of Death too much, but I like some songs off of there, like Disposable Teens and The Nobodies. But if you're talking the enitre CD, then it would have to be AC ST, MA, and Golden.

I love Sol Invictus too btw. It's funny because that means Unconquerable Sun in Latin, and was a title associated with the god Mitrhas, which was a Persian import into Rome. It was popular with soldiers, whereas the cult of Isis was mainly for upper-class Roman matrons. Anyway, the god Mitrhas was celebrated on December 25th and in the 3rd century the emperor Constantine had them proclaim Christmas on December 25th when Christianity was legalized in the empire. It was a way of converting pagans to Christianity, because if you already have a god who dies and is reborn, as Mithras was, then it's easy to say, "hey, we have this guy Jesus who's the same thing, and since the emperor likes him, why don't you just do that." The Bible doesn't actually say when Jesus was born, but it was probably in the Spring, as that time of year is associated with birth. I learned this in college and the History Channel did something on it too. Sorry if I bored you.

I like a few random songs from other MM discs (you mentioned Disposable Teens, I like Fight and Dope Show and a handful of others, but overall AS is my favorite disc. It is the only one I like every song from.

WOW cool you are into Sol Invictus, yeah I know what it means of course - all their albums are amazing, but I think Lex Talionis is my favorite. Tony is GOD. :) They swap members back and forth with a few other groups of elite musicians, Current 93, Death in June, Nurse with Wound, Coil (RIP John Balance, hardcore tryptamine user / Thelemic occultist that he was).

Are We Not Men is great too - my favorite Devo is Duty Now for the Future. Smart Patrol / Mr. DNA rox!

"The Smart Patrol / Nowhere to go / Suburban robots that monitor reality / We're common stock, we work around the clock / We shove the poles in the holes!"

Wow, I remember THAT one really well.

I bought a Billie Joel cd yesterday. I was missing a few of his songs.
