I just found out about this shit tonight. I'm waaay behind the times, as usual, but this shit just made my fucking blood boil. The DEA has, once again, fucked over a great man in the name of the war on drugs. This is no ordianry fuck-over, though. This is a FUCK-OVER on the largest of all scales.

William Leonard Pickard (not the star trek captian, dumbasses). 'sauce, I'm sure you're familiar. The dude gets set up by some scumbag methhead and gets pinned with producing 95% of American and European LSD.

At least their charging the deposed Thai PM with murder and crimes against humanity for his policy of hanging several thousand drug dealers/users.

Yeah this is a good example of drug war hysteria.The sentance doesn't reflect the crime,but is meant as a warning to others.Fuck with LSD and we'll look after your room and board for life.

I can't handle LSD anymore. But, this guy got fucked by the government- they didn't give him due process at all- wittnesses that weren't cross-examined, inexperienced DEA chemists, weighing the total dilute solution instead of the pure LSD (hence the claims of 97 lbs, or 2 billion doses) and lots more. This guy was FUCKED by the DEA for what amounts to a "safe" drug. If you got caught with a few bales of weed, you wouldn't get a life sentence (especially without the chance to properly put on your legal defense), so why should he?

tptptp- yeah, I don't think anyone really honestly believes the guy has never manufactured lsd, but the point is he wasn't allowed to present a competent legal defense. The DEA came up with their crazy numbers like they always do. For example- if you got caught with 1 ounce of heroin (28 grams)... In reality, the average bag would be about 100mg. So that would be 280 bags, at $20/bag, it's worth 6000- in reality, more like 5 grand after shortages, doing some, etc...

BUT... the DEA would say the average bag was 30mg or 840 bags (once cut) and sold for $50 each, so it would be 42k, which they would round up to $50,000! So, they'll take a $5k bust and turn it into a $50k bust. It's even worse in this case because it was LSD diluted into precursor chems, so it was really 200grams of LSD diluted into 97lbs of other shit.

The point is, he got FUCKED. If you read the website, you'll be PISSED! and no all the stuff about attempted manslaughter or attempting to overthrow the govt. or 7 hits=legally insane or the glass of oj bad trip... it's all bullshit, probably put out there by the DEA. Exaggeration, Persecution, and Silence. The dea's 3 -pronged strategy.

The Acid Tests were in 1965ish and the pranksters traveled around quite a bit until woodstock in 1969. I got to meet Wavy Gravy a few years ago, same year I met Robert Hunter. Wavy Gravy was out promoting his Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor and signing autographs. Hunter was in a CD store and we were both looking at Dylan albums at the same time. I was the only one who recognized him and ended up getting to talk about Dylan with him, who is a close friend of his, and I also walked away with his autograph. I posted the Hunter story on here before. He has two songs that he wrote for Dylan albums, Silvio and Ugliest Girl in the World. Dylan still plays Silvio live quite a bit. Hunter also volunteered to be a part of the CIA's MKULTRA program along side of Ken Kesey back in 1962. Could you imagine getting paid by the gov't to take LSD, psilocybin, and mescaline? It would be scary as hell though in a research facility and not knowing what psychedelics even are, or what dose they are giving you since it was experimental. Enter One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Yeah well I dont know the story behind it and I have no doubt the DEA tried to soup things up. It sucks sure but when you manufacture drugs you are just asking for it. I mean even if the shit only had a 5,000$ value every 5 weeks his ass was gonna do a few years minimum.
