Kratom Cltivating/anyone else grow Kratom?

Title is kinda self explanitory here. Any of you ppl grow a kratom tree/bush or two? If so got pics? Anything you'd like to add on how yours has came along?

If so, did you grow yours from seed or start with a cutting? Also, has yours produced any seed pods yet and if so how long did it take?

I started with a cutting about 9in. tall I ordered from the homies over at IAS along with my Salvia Divinorum cutting(hey, im very into botanical gardening!), I've had it about 2-3mos so far and it's living VERY healthy. Especialy to be indoors in TN(it's getting cold as shit here btw). I keep it in front of my bedroom window now, it was in the living room. I have also done took two cuttings from it and they are living perfect so far, one of the cuttings is even showing some mini roots from the stem :) this was my 2nd ever attempt and taking cuttings from a plant and having them root(my first was a HBWR). So it kinda excites me lol. The cuttings are living in a hydroponics setup at the moment until they start formings some healthy roots, then into the soil they go! When I got my Kratom plant it was already rooted in dirt. I just transplanted it today into a 4gal pot, as it was in this lil bitty ass thing.

Also, since I'm on the subject does anyone else here have an intrest in botanical cultivation? Do you guys grow anything 'cool' aside from poppies and pot lol?

Wow that is so cool! I'm looking over on IAS and they don't seem to carry those anymore... at least not in the live plant section. They do have seeds though. I'm tempted to buy those and scatter them in my favorite park.;)

I want to hear back about these... how fast do they grow? When are their leaves best for incense? Once you have an orchard maybe you'll conduct an opiophile tour?

Haha, maybe one day... I do already have a nice room dedicated for botanical gardening in the cabin we're building(started over the summer, but i fucked my back so it's going alot slower) out towards the front and on the upper floor(big windows up there with good light). I want to put a skylight thingy in too among a hundred other things. It's on a 7acre lot but that should be enough for enough pods:p

OK enough of how i wanna finish somehing...

About the kratom seeds. I wouldn't bother unless you have a half assed green thumb now! Those SOBs are MICROSCOPIC!!! Really, the seeds aren't sold or measured by numbers, they aren't even measured by the gram! Try mg lol. Yeah... the kratom seeds are sold by the mg. You'll get a good 180-280 seeds for every 10mg too. That might sound like a good deal/price but theres a shitty chance of them making it past the first 3months... Theres a pretty damn good germination rate for such small ass seeds and such(like a70% germination rate if i remember correct). Theres about a 10% chance of you getting a living plant out of these(that makes it over 2inches tall, they usually die about that far along if they're going to). MAYBE a 20% chance. yeah, I'd say aorund a 10-20% viability, something like that, you get the idea lol.

You can get a harvest as soon as there are leaves man lol. Theres basically no set tiem frame or w/e that the active alkaloids are at the highest concentration as there is with say papaver somniferum... I mean, the second you see little elaves don't pick, but as soon as the leaves are full or w/e they are ready to harvest if you want... I'll get pics up of mine later to show how big they'd be ready to pick for their incense properties. THey grow pretty quick in the right conditions... i don't know how to explain it too well but they grow fast in hot climates with warm, bright, sunlight over half the day. Mine likes water too, big time!

What kind of cacti do you grow? I've got 3 San Pedros at the moment(two are about 2yrs old and one is about a year old, all grown from seed). I'm going to hypothetically have a couple Peyote by Febuary I', sure. Finaly got a dude to send me a couple peyote cultutre starts :) Probably get about 5-8 of those just to get started. I did have a Peruvian Torch(about 2-1/2-3yrs old) that I cut down and made a brew of this previous summer. Made the traditonal mescal cacti tea and let it evap down to a goopey powder, I then shoved that stuff into capsules. My friends keep saying 'man, make some more fo those 'mescal' capsules, we could make a killing!!!!" lol. Mescaline is something for me though, ESPECIALY in the fall/winter around the ppl you rlly care about and such, god, you guys haven't tried mescal until you've tried it in a closed in deck with the ground covered in snow, or laying on a trampoline or somethign and watching the snow fall, then nod out with some opis and wake up still seeing trails, BEST TIME EVER! oops. i got carried away, srry, i got a lil loving for mescal :cool:

but anyone got any imput on their personal botanical gardens or w/e feel free to post here!

you probably know this already but peyote grows really slowly; you can drastically increase the rate at which it grows by grafting it to the top of a san pedro. I've eaten a few cacti in my day. Never got to experience it with opis or snow though--or trampolines damn that would be an interesting way to toss yer buttons.:vomit:

Yeap, done looked into grafting alot, and I'd rather keep it the way it's meant to be. As the peyote will grow fkn HUGE in like less than half the time it would if left natural, BUT what most ppl that wanna do this don't know that it growing fast IS NOT going to produce the same amount of desired alkaloids. You're still gonna have to let it grow a few years, it might take a half year or a year TOPS off the whole process if your talking about a 6-7year grow...

So that grafting thing, ins't for me... i've looking into it alot and discovered it wouldn't suit my needs...

I am growing about 7 kratom plants under a grow light, out in my garage, in a plastic setup with reflective space blankets, and a humidifier.
they share it with some salvia divinorum, some other hopefully active salvia species, and an avocado plant.

right now its snowing outside and they are OK at 44 degrees. just dont let the light go off!!

the leaf is active on the bigger ones, around 6 feet tall.

I am just learning to grow cuttings.....none too succesfull yet. I have various little experiments going. looks like salvia is far quicker and easier to produce cuttings with.

I still would easily pay the 350$ dollars a year it will cost to run that light. in the summer I will put them outside under other trees for most of the year and fall...and leave the grow room for newer cuttings and seedlings.

it is nice to have a source of fresh leaf, even though it is weak compared to commercial.

I am using organic miracle grow...which one grower states is almost the perfect combination of nutrients for the plants.

I cant wait to move somewhere where they will survive outside..I want to grow old, and grow kratom all year round, sit in a hangout in a kratom tree, or just a fort inside some big kratom bushes, and eat pods that i grow legally. that is a dream.

hopefully I get the cutting thing down, but it may need to be warmer for the process to get stimulated.

How are you going about getting cuttings to root, jacky?

I use a home amde hydro system to let it root after the basics are done. The kratom takes like 3weeks to get just tiney ass roots to start...

A friend brought over some Khat seeds the other day.. I dont know much about it only its a class 1 sched
and its alot like speed.. I was told by this guy who was over seas that everyone in Yemen where he was stationed was chewing it.

Ah, yeah, it's indeed a stimulant. The leaves are what you want I think, dunno about the seeds themselves being used. All I know is the leaves are what you want to chew on. I've also ehard of the buds/flowers being used. Hell the stems of the buds even contain the main alakloids(cathine (d-norisoephedrine), cathidine, and cathinine)lol. I think you're gonna need some hot weather to grow them. Like unless you live very south in the US(like FL maybe) forget about it outdoors. I may be wrong though, as I've never personally grew the stuff. Also, don't give it really any plant food. Maybe in a year or so, it doesn't require rich nutrients or nothing like a lot of plants do, it actualy does better in avg. 'un-treated' soil...

I don't have no exp. with that plant though, so you'd get more help on google than I can offer, unelss someone else comes by and sees this who grows it.

It does however contain one alakloid that the ephedra vulgaris does, Cathine. but ya, it's NOTHING like speed or nothing, it's not even as strong as ephedrine I don't think... it's moreso like caffeine in terms of effects than anything. I'm not sure on the legality of it though, but it doesn't seem like it's scheduled?

I've prepared cacti like that. Isn't it crazy that when you scrape it into a powder it actually looks like a bunch of crystals! I think a better way of preparing them is to peel off the outer skin then just slice off the green outer mush (about 4-7mm) and leave all the white mush & core. You then freeze the green stuff which breaks down the cells or something making it easier to dry out & make to powder & put in caps. This way you're not heating it at all which breaks down some of the best alkaloids. I have found this method to produce a more visual and stronger trip.

Yeah, generaly the flesh is the only part of the cacti that is used... cept from desperate ppl or ppl doing an A/B extract.

and just powdering the cacti flesh without making a basic tea/extract is still ERY naseating(sp? lol)! but it is indeed much stronger if you can get the cacti down wthout maing a brew. THe first lie 3 mescal trips i took(p torch and.or san pedro) I mixed some powdered cacti flesh in orang euice(OMG NEVER TRY THIS!!! UCK!) and down with skittles, chocolate, a hundred cokes, and many cigs... oh god, the worst fkn nausea EVER! The purging effect mescal has is natural though, and is pretty much gonna happen no matter what, as it is better to let the purging happen, it gets rid of the toxins iny our body for a clean trip(don't ask lol). and ima have to edit alter i think cause i forgot where i was going lol.

Ive never used kratom and dont believe the hype . Im on too high a dose for a spice to alleviate my wdf pain. so I guess theres no exitement in growing it. I also love my methadone .A Lifer am i

Well if you got enough Kratom is DEFFINATELY nice! But that shit si the biggest ripoff per dose I've ever seen!!! It costs as much if not more than dope!!!

Like 1oz of Kratom is liek taking 60mg of Morphine... maybe a bit better. Something like that...

The hype is deff not over-hyped! But the dosages are gnereal under estimated, like any less than half oz won't do shit if you rlly want effects!

From reading stuff here people injest the powder (wrapping it in toilet paper ect. to aviod the taste and texture. It seems like alot of people eat the stuff. Where itsdgrown people chew on the leaves which to me sounds worse. that way you have to taste it.

No idea, but i've only heard of ppl making a tea with kratom leaves... I mean, who the hell would wanna down half oz+ of freaking leaves!?!? wow lol. i dunno, maybe it's just the ppl i know but FUCK THAT, heh.

and fuck that parachuting BS, freaking put it in '00' caps!!! You can get hundreds of capsules for a few bucks at almost any GNC type stores! A lot of these herbal shops also have lil kits for packing the caps, worth looking into if you're into botanicals and such!
