Thoughts on? Anyone read books about or by him? Anyone seen the movie (Dustin Hoffman as Lenny - outstanding)? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I'm a huge fan
of Lenny Bruce.
He is the Father
of modern day stand up.
Lenny was one of the first
to use the stream of conciousness
as a basis for a stand up routine.
The man would talk about anything
and used his life for comedic fodder.
Kinison and Pryor never would have
happened if it wasn't for Lenny.
Have you read
How to Talk Dirty and Influence People?

This summer I read an exceptionally well-written and large bio of Lenny B. Thank you for reminding me to look for "How To Win...."
Lenny is my hero.
Sorry DV,but Lenny was the funniest junky ever

Yeah, but I'd say DV is the funniest junky on opiophile. Either him or that crazy poonwhalla. I still laugh every time I see that avatar with the storm-trooper humping air.
I guess DV needs a good sense of humour living in Utah(jk DV bro).

that movie is great. it may be dramatically embellished, but i'm always so impressed with people that are willing to be arrested and go to court for their rights. that's really the principles that this country was founded on in action. what's a degenerate, daddy? ha ha.

Yeah, Lenny was definitely one of us, too: loved those opiates, and lost a lot because of them. Sometimes his stuff seems a little tame, but u gotta remember, for his time, he was outrageous, using cuss words, talking about sex, shit...it just wasn't done. He was way out there on a tightwire, knowing he was gonna fall.

Yup...and he carried on and marched bravely toward.

I've been always, always liking Lenny. Such a sad story after all... but Lenny was quite an addict (in all senses of the word); you remember how he died...?
He died in very strange circumstances. He managed to od without leaving any drugs or paraphenalia lying around.Quite a trick and it makes you wonder what else happened.

Sure does make one wonder. Lenny was just saying way too much for the government's comfort...so many people died like him, in very odd circumstances, nothing "for sure"...nothing "provable" and all evidence hushed up so fast.
One of the just plain funny and truthful things that Lenny Bruce commented on was how Jackie Kennedy high-tailed it off the back of the limo when her John Kennedy was shot. When I was growing up, no one ever talked about that; I'd watch the assassination footage over and again - I thought I was the only one who noticed it. I mean, that broad hauled ass off that limo. But Lenny - he saw it and he said it.
Yup, living in Utah does necessitate my being a junky. An poon's definitely funnier than me, I'm just funny in that sad pathetic way. Like an animal after its been neutered and has that thing on its head and no balls.

Nahhh, yer funny and cool too...I love yah...I just for the life of me cannot see u living in Utah. Seems to me like your breaking a bunch of laws just being *alive* there.
On the other hand, my first bike trip I ended up in SLC a long time ago and I had a blast. My '63 panhead took a dive up there, I was sitting with my roaddog in the park right downtown Salt Lake, staring at broken bike, and some bikers come by, and took us to their house, where we slept in their yard for a couple months. I did a top end job on engine in their kitchen, drank cases of Coors everyday--that was exotic beer to FL resident--chased girls at those bars on that strip downtown, had--and got fired from--a carpenter job a couple months later. Finally rode back to Gainseville FL when it got too cold for me. Every town was a party to me in those days, and there were plenty like me up there, too. I didn't drink alone :-)
