I have been checking up on some little known opioid containing plants . while the species are not available directly from companys in the US, African botanical suppliers will ship these LEGAL materials into the states. Picralima nitida is a nut that is related to the cola nut . this medicine in africa is used for malaria symptoms and for pain relief. several resources list mu opioid and kappa activity. I imagine that in a few years many extract companies will be making these and MANY more opioid acting plants available throughout the world. It is interesting for me to learn of just how many companies are marketing chaste tree, an opioid containing common spice/herbal medicinal, but fail to mention or insidiously avoid mentioning , or perhaps are not even aware that their product has opiate action. The future looks bright for the amassing of a pile of information into the creation of medicinal herbal products that may help people with pain relief, opioid replacement therapy, etc etc.
