Didnt really kno where to post this, but i was just readin sumthing under the oxycontin forum about cops and horror storys and it reminded me of this video...Its a must see, so much valuable information you guys should know about police encounters...what you can say and get away with. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8520847761350501823&q=Busted For example not lettin them search your car...then when they threaten you to bring in the k9 you ask if they are detaining you or if you can leave...they cant just hold you there, they have to let you go or detain you. This is a must see, and hopefully it will help inform more opiophiles of their rights and keep some of you guys out of jail. Its Long but the information is worth it please watch, it could maybe oneday save you a trip to jail...
again didnt kno where to post, so if its not okay being here then please move it to the right spot mods. ;]

You know OpiBli$$, I didn't even watch what you attached. It's just that here in Chicago the cops rule the streets. You don't ask them if they have probable cause to search your car. You can't tell them they're violating your rights. They'll beat your fuckin' face in, then get several of their partners to testify to your unruliness... I mean, you just have to play the game with them. If you're cool with them they'll be cool with you. But if you start talking about your rights and shit like that...You're fucked!!!!!

Yea im sure ur right about certain cops n certain parts of teh US bein like that. But i wouldnt just start talkin bout my rights... all i would say if they asked to search my car is "no you may not without a warrent". I mean why would you leta cop search your car when you dont have too and kno you have illegal items on you and will be arrested...plus dont they have camera's on the cops cars down where u live papa Ver? i kno round here they do...thats also how they record high speed chases on tv n shit...

I spent 2 years after takin the cop for a bust. After watchin tis there are a few things I'd do differently but I'd still take the cop.
Well out here in shitland Utah the police violating your rights is unlikely so this video was really good / informative for me. Thanks man. And with traffic stops here, all cars have cameras on them so they can't fuck with you and the traffic stops are what I worry about mostly. Plus if the cops showed up at my door, I'd call my neighbors and probably set up a camera somewhere, and hit the audio recorder before I'd open the door. So good video for me, thanks man.
PS, I loved the tip about locking your car doors. I've told this story before, but when I ended up in ICU I make my way out to the front (baredly) and I made sure to lock the door before I left. Everything is always locked at my place including the safe, and the front is always deadbolted and I live in a city with one of the lowest crime rates in the country. I sat there passed out on the sidewalk with what I took written on a paper and waited for the cops / paramedics (two blocks away). Didn't have shit on me and everything was locked up so in the end I just ended up in the hospital. It's a good tip to tell people.
If your friend ever OD's do them a favor and clean them, then haul them to your car or if you haven't one drag him out to the sidewalk before you make the call. 5 mins will save him / and or you a felony.

If you were so uncooperative in my area, the cops would beat you down. No cops want to hear about rights but you shouldn't let them search if you know you have something. And you shouldn't let them search even if you don't have anything. Then when nothing is found let's see how smart they look. I think you can be respectfully assertive and cooperate but still maintain your rights rather than being uncooperative and pissing off the cop with lawyer talk. Find a happy medium.
Sorry I'm editing this because I found this strange music video on GOOGLE VIDEO. It was made because of the ride in overdoses in Maryland and DC and Virginia or something like that. Anyways, the message is a good one, trying to stop people from doing heroin or whatever. But I'm just not into the preaching about how bad drugs are unless it is to children or teens who aren't involved in it and who can still escape it unscathed.
So I'm going to show you the link for this "Heroin Kills" thing on GOOGLE VIDEO, purely because the song sounds so 80's to me. Or is it 70's? I'm not old enough to know the difference. The song is just killer though. HAHAHAHAHA sorry I hate the song. It's such redneck white trash horse shit but I can respect the anti-drug message is sends even though I don't want to hear it.
I just thought the song was funny. Maybe I'm dumb or something but it sounds so funny right now. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9031631292305579065&q=heroin

Yeah, I wouldn't start with the lawyer talk either :p. Good comment.

I don't think 'no, you can't search my car' will fly aorund here, or anywhere I've been lol. hell, on COPS on TV i've ehard guys say 'no sir, you can not search my car(regular traffic stop, no signals or some shit)'... well guess huh, they searched that SOB!!! Like around here if u say 'no sir, you can't search my ride' they will then have a reason to beleive you're hiding something.
I dunno, but I never knew you could deny having your car searched...? Seems like if u say no that would be 'probable cause' lol.
I dunno, I'm not too informed on legal rights and shit like that, I just know cops always are FUCK WADS to me!!!
later
Yeah, but if you have something they're going to find it. Might as well get out of the vehicle, lock the doors and say no. It's not going to hurt any as far as I can tell, I'm sure there are exceptions. Regardless, letting the cop search it, or them searching it illegaly isn't going to yeild you any more / less time (again with the exceptions statment), and you've atleast got a shot at contesting.

NEVER BELIEVE THEIR SWEET TALK! I always see it on "Cops" the T.V show and I've seen it in real life. Cops always try to say they are going to help you if you are honest and they will be all nice and say "We're gonna get you the help you need" and all this crap. Which really means, we're gonna lock you up for as long as we can. I'm sure sometimes there are cops who mean they are gonna help you a bit but I don't think that happens very often. They like to act like they are your friend after they bust you and to get you to play along with them. It's all a scam. Just KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND DONT CONSENT! SIMPLE! Even if they bring the dogs and find something, DON"T ADMIT IT! and just because they found it doesn't mean you have to spill the beans and give them everything they want. Don't help them with their case against you. They may say something like, " It's a shame you didn't let us search when you knew you had narcotics in the car, you should have just been honest and we could have made a deal, you seem like a nice enough guy and even though you didn't tell me about it, I still don't want to see you go to jail for a long time over this, lets talk about it, I want to know where you got it" etc etc. They will give you more opportunities to save yourself but it's HORSE SHIT! DON"T DO IT!!! STAY SILENT and just wait until you see a lawyer to do anything. The cop isnt going to say "Oh, I feel sorry for him, let him go home". You will still get charged with the same thing because there will be more cops there who won't let it slide even if that one cop wants to. You're going to get charged if you have something. So STAY QUIET, DON'T CONSENT and if you do get caught after the dogs come. STAY QUIET and DON'T ADMIT TO ANYTHING! JUST GO TO JAIL AND DEAL WITH IT AND PHONE A LAWYER. Because once they find shit. You're fucked either way. You're more fucked if they have your words acknowledging you did the crime. And if you get mouthy and swear or bitch out the cop it will be used against you always and they'll paint you to be some dick who was causing shit and you won't get away with it even if they violated your rights or something. So just be polite, STAY CALM, QUIET, and NO CONSENT!
COMPRENDEZ?

No, Saying no to the police searching your car is NOT probable cause...they cannot search your vehicle soley on you saying "no you cant search my car"...ike like you said on cops they do search the car, but this is only bc the person has already commited a crime (ex: car chases...ect..) or if something was in plain sight like drugs on the floor ect. An watch that vid ike dont let the cops abuse thier power, learn your rights stay informed and maybe youll have better luck. IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO SAY NO TO POLICE SEARCHES just watch the video...ya i always see ppl on cops say "ya sure go ahead search my car" and think what a fuckin idiot, cuz the next min a cop finds somthing and their off to jail. WATCH THE VID, USE UR HEAD. ;]

I hear what your saying Papa Ver. I used to live in Champaign, and we would roll up to the south-side to score. All the cops had to do was see you in the known dope areas, and they would pull you over, rip you out of the car, throw you on the ground, and search the car. The last thing you want to do is give them any shit; you will pay. Your best bet is to cooperate, and maybe they will go easy on you.

Agreed^^ if in areas like that, otherwise dont say or let the cops do shit
If the cops are bored, really want you or are desperate to keep the arrest figures up the law and civil liberties go out the window.
I remember getting bust waiting in a car for a prostitute friend to make the money to pay us back so we could go score in Manchester. As we got out of the car one of my friends dropped a 1/16 of an ounce in the gutter(bastard swore earlier he didn't have any) the cops and us all saw this, but they ignored him picked up the dope and bust someone else they wanted more.I don't know who I was more pissed with the cops or mister I don't have any.Probably the cops.

It so depends on the geographical area you are in, the cop's mood, whether he is alone, with a partner, the spot u are in,like which corner, is it partcularly hot bc they are trying to shut it down and move it outa thier distict?
I've had it go down a few different ways.
One time we got pulled over because we were in a known hot spot. ( THIS ALONE is probable cause for stopping someone in Baltimore) and yes it has been held up in court. The cop was alone, asked point blank did you score yet. To which I replied yep but just a couple of pills He was gonna search and find it anyway consent or no consent).
He asked the other dude in the car if he was holding anything dude lied and said no. he took my shit and crushed it under his heel. Other dude got a ride in the patty wagon. Cop told him not to lie. Dumb fuck had it right in his shirt pocket.
Hide your stash where they aint gonna find it unless they do a cavity search and yes I know there are cops that will strip your ass naked on the street and choke you if they think you put it in your mouth ( doesn't matter if your male or female)
Another time, I was stopped coming home from work in the hood before I had a chance to cop and had a legitimate reason to be where I was. Asked to search I said no. "Why if you have nothing to hide? " BC I just got off work ( show ID bage so he knows I why I'm in the area) and I need to get home to my kids. Asks me to step out of the car. I say no ( cause I know I'm clean right?) so he calls for his seargent, the pull me out of the car, search it and me (with no female officer present which is what the laew says they are supposed to do when searching a female),
find nothing, at this point I'm pissed cause I'm ill and want to get where I'm going start bitching Hell i was clean and guess what, they ended up letting me go but followed my ass all the way out of the hood up to to county line. I sneak back in a hour later to another side of town (well a different corner get pulled over again and this time they just shook their head and told me to go home.
Managed to sneak around the corner and get a runner to go but all in all if they want to they can hassle you enough to make it inconvienent to get where you are going, search if they want and bust you if they find something ( even a clean, sealed toool unless u have a woks/exchange card).
Ok I'm rambling at this point sorry guys
where I live now, cops acutally take a person's civil rights seriously and are actually polite. so I would never consent to a search, and they not would they do one without probable cause. That's why I have to drive into Milawkee to cop. LOL!
In terms of having grounds to contest in court, It's all a crapshoot. Including your luck of the draw with a public defender if you can't afford a private mouuthpiece. PD's sell their clients down the river with shitty deals cause lets face it they just aren't that invested in keeping a junky out of jail. Not when they have 30 on the morning docket alone. This is all just my own personal experiece of course.
I've been busted and been co- operative and uncoperative end result was usually the same.at least an overnight at Centrral booking.
Now I keep my works hidden at the place I'm gonna go to hook up ( if I can't wait to get home to use) and stash my stuff well . Already have a plan for how to get in and out safely when i go home in a couple of weeks, def will be using public transpo into the hood, they seem to bother you less if you are walking then if you are driving..but you know what they say about the best laid plans...

You know how it is. That's just in the City of Chicago though. Once you get to the suburbs or if you end up dealing with State Troopers it's a whole different story. I don't even think CPD has cameras in their cars or if they do, they'll turn it off when they want to do things their way, I'm sure.

The idea isn't just to get yourself out of the situation, it's also to give yourself a better legal defense if you do get caught. If you said no to a search, and the cop does it anyways, you have a much better chance of getting charges dropped than if you consent.
I have this sticker that says something like "Notice to law enforcement officers: I respectfully decline all searches of my person, home or vehicle without a warrant. If I am detained, please notify my legal counsel" and it's got my lawyer's name and phone number on it. It's stuck to the back of my driver's liscence, so cops see it every time they pull me over, and it's kind of a nicer way of declining.
Some cops will be like "what is this smartass shit what do you have to hide?" and I just say "my lawyer told me to put that sticker there" but I think it's a good idea- plus, if you get searched, there is one more peice of evidence that you declined search (and the cop knows this)

I hate to say so, but this is true. "Are you detaining us or are we free to go?" is bullshit. It's just a way to piss cops off. Sometimes you just gotta take your chances.

its simple... say no to any search in as pleasant a way as possible... say "I'd really rather have my lawyer here for that sort of thing"
now they may try to keep you there while they call in K9 but you ARE NOT under arrest 'til they cuff you AND interrogate... so you theoretically can leave... probably won't work but be nice and firm, and remember everything you say may be playing in front of a jury one day if things go down badly and you don't want to look like a "COPS" reject...
answer no questions, same line "lawyer" ... if you are under arrest, and you say that word, they CANNOT ask you anymore questions... if they do, keep saying the word...
be nice be firm and know your rights.. vaxn8 had a good link to this thing somewhere..
vax where is that again?

vax hasnt been around in over a week. pm me and I'll let you know what's up (HOM, not everybody)
Hom's right, but I always go with three simple rules of enemy engagement.
1.Say nothing.
2.Demand a lawyer.
3.Be polite.
