So if one were to have this on hand. Could midazolam be crushed, add sterile water and filter with a wheel filter. Would this solution be Versed?

Midazolam is the Generic name for Versed. Versed is the Brand Name. I would imagine that if you were to crush tabs and add them to sterile water you would get the same effect, if that is what you were looking for.
Versed is a Benzodiazepine that has annesic effects, used for conscious sedation. Because of it's effect in causing respitory depression, I would use it cautiously. Although the drug is short-acting, I would advise against doses give too closely together.
It is definately a strong benzodiazepine and I have administered it to patients for conscious sedation several times and its effect can be very quick. If you have not used it before, my advice would be to have someone with you who knows rescue breathing or to play with some safer benzo's such as Valium.
While all benzo's will have an amnesic affect, Versed's action is very quick and could cause you some unwanted effects you were not prepared for.
I will be honest and say that I have not seen Versed in a pill form, only IV as we used in the hospital. It would be a hard drug to get your hands on and I don't know of any doc who would prescribe it to a patient. As I said, the only time I have seen it used is in a hospital setting for proceedures or for seizures that did not respond to Valium.
Be careful!

Love this open discussion.
I don't feel diazepam much when I use it for sleep. For insomnia I use Zolpidem or Zopiclone. But I suffer Migraines. And I self medicate. Bad I know but between what I get from the doc and what I get online, I have not made an ER visit in a few years. The thing I have the hardest time doing is getting to sleep. In ER I'd get Demerol/pheneragan. In my home ER its fast acting Actiq and Kadian for when the Actiq wears off. The thing is I need to sleep too and the hynotics don't work well. Versed worked good to put me to sleep. But when I got it in pill form nada. I always have the Hubby around in case I screw up

Floger,
I hear you on the sleep issues. I myself have the hardest time sleeping. I literally go days without sleep and when I do sleep, it is only for an hour here and there. I have tried Trazdone, which gives me a terrible headache, as well as all the other drugs for sleep, benzo's included.
I am not sure how often you are using Narcotics for pain, but they can as well cause disturbances in sleep. I did not quite understand if the Ambien and Zoplicone were causing you migraines.
Ambien never worked well for me and as far as Benzo's go, I would need a large dose to get me to sleep and run out in a few weeks. I am curious to know if your doc is prescribing the Versed or you are coming in to it by some other means. My only concern is that if you take too much it can compromise your breathing, even in pill form.
Have you tried any of the migraine meds out there? Believe it or not, Ergotamine works well for me sometimes, depending on how quick I take it. But it is still hit and miss with it getting rid of the migraine.
I would be interested in knowing if you are using any other opiates for pain, which as I said can cause insomnia.
Be well

I've had migraines for 40 years. I've been the Guinea pig for all those new meds for migraine. I have several a month that nothing works to stop it. I have Midrin and Maxalt that are the first thing I use. By the way the Migraine starts I can tell if I should try Midrin or Maxalt. 50% of the time one of them works.
I told my migraine doc that getting to sleep when I'm in crisis mode was impossible. What used to work was Nembutal suppositories but they are not made anymore. So over the last few years I've tried them all.
I had a colonoscopy and was amazed that the Versed worked on me. So being the self medicater that I am, I bought Midazolam online. But taking the pill, a 15mger, did nothing. Through my life I have played the pharma cook too. So hence the question.
So I did filter several 15mgers. and tried it a few days ago. With Hubby watching. I used about 2mg. It went just fine so Now I know that when the next migraine hits I can take care of it in the comfort of my home.
