well i made the desicion today to try to get on bupe because im spending about 100 dollars a day on pills...Which in my case is very bad because of the job i have and i have my apt im renting car insurance bank loan im paying off feeding me and my g/f our phone bill power and i could keep on and on and on...so i get the little pamplet from suboxone website about a month ago and i just really started going over it last night and it sayd to call ur doctor to see if she has lisicense to perscribe sub.....so i do this this morning and talked to my docs nurse..she says she pretty sure she can perscribe it but i need to make an appoinment because she might want to try some other way to get me off...So the vist is gonna be 80 dollars and im planning on takeing the pamplet that i got about sub with me when i go....And pray to god she perscibes it to me with out a bunch of run around and reffers and all that bull shit.....I just dont have the money any more to support the habbit that keeps getting worse and worse...any suggestions on what i should tell the doc when i go

you can look up your doc and see if he/she is liscenced to prescribe subutex for detox/maintenance. If not, you're out $80. And it's the only thing they can prescribe to detox you. Opiate-wise, anyways. Like, they can't give you a tapering dose of OC or anything like that. So, don't spend your $ until you're sure your doc is liscenced to prescribe it. If he/she is liscenced, they will know it, cause they have to take a seminar on subutex before they can.

Oh, and bizzy- since you aren't into anything too hard, and you don't IV (I think) you should ask for subutex, not suboxone. I'm sure someone will post a link to find out if your doc prescribes subs. If not, I will (read: someone please do the work for me). There should be plenty of docs who are liscenced if your's isn't.

Been there just gives me places close by but not really close i signed up for the pamplet there and they sent it...and it syas in there to ask my doctor...when i asked my nurse she sounded like she didnt know...so i will call back tom... to see cause that 80 bucks can go towards something else and save me from being pissed off and sick

It's not for everybody, but I prefer it so far to methadone, simply because I hate the clinics, and I can get'em from regular docs. I get subutex. Site I used to find doc was NAABT.org, they have a patient/doc dealie. It gave addresses and phone numbers, and all three docs I called could prescribe. Like methadone, it does get rid of the cravings. Like methadone, there are people who love it, people who hate it, and people like me, would rather be doing something else, but this is o.k. I'll be honest, I just like getting up in the morning and doing an opiate. I've only been that way about 35 years, so I'm sure I'll get over it one of these days. Sub serves it's purpose. I'd rather be on dilaudid maintenance, but my doc just won't listen to reason...and I thought I was a pretty strong persuader too...must be loosing my touch ;-) Well, I did get subutex, rather than suboxone, so that's some comfort, anyway.

If you're doing it for maintenance, I can give you more info... If you are using it to detox altogether, or at least to try that, I can also suggest a pretty good website for that, though it's kind of a grim place, if you are a lifer, like me....

Anyway, check out the NAABT website, see if there is a doc close that prescribes, if not, keep us posted...and good luck man, I know the hurt you're in on the habit and money thing...we laugh about it, but it's the dark reality of much of our lives, too...so all the best to you.

I've had to do yet another search for a sub doctor, since I moved away from the one I was going to, and I've noticed that many docs don't do maintenance. A lot of the ones I've talked to will only to detox programs, and a few of them only do short-term detoxes (a month or less). I don't plan on spending the rest of my life on opiates, but I'm just not in a situation where I can (realisticly) successfully detox at this point. I suppose I'm just going to have to go back to the methadone clinic.

But anyway, if your doctor isn't listed on the suboxone website, then they can't prescribe it to you, and you should cancel your appointment. The doctor-finders on suboxone.com and the NAABT site are both useful, but the NAABT site is a little better, because they have that matching function (I mentioned it in my "ultimate sub guide") - if you can't find a doc, you submit your information, and it'll be sent to any doctors in your area, and when one of them has an opening, they'll contact you. It's much easier than calling numerous offices over and over!

If youre thinking about months, than youll be thinking about years -- Its a ridiculus amount. I was spending upwards of hundred bucks a day myself - that was an average day.

Yeah, it is really depressing when you find out how much $ you've been wasting. It was a lot more obvious when I was going to the methadone clinic, and I was amazed at how much money I would have if I weren't spending so much on maintaining my habit. I'd love to just be done with it all, but I just can't seem to detox successfully. I think after finals are over, I'm going to try to go CT off of heroin, and just get it over with (although that's never worked out in the past).

I would take about 6 40's OC a day - how would that compare to H? How much would my habit cost per day if Im used to 6 oc's?

seagull- it's almost impossible to say. You probably won't get a real answer on this one. Purity is too variable, and so is the size of bags and price paid per bag. Also, you didn't say what you are paying for the OC's, so we have nothing to compare dope price to.

I used to do about the same amount of OC's- 3x80mg per day. When I'd use dope instead, my costs were lower. I was also never really totally well when I was on dope, I guess because h is chemically different than oxycodone.

It sounds like you want to start a dope habit. Dont be stupid.

I totally agree about not trying to tally how you've spent your DOC... that's just depressing. Hell, I get scripts monthly and pay pharmacy prices, and I still hate to think of it... cause days turn into weeks, which make years, and it like trying to figure out how much you've spent on cigarettes... just don't want to go there.

When I was using drugs recreationally (before I fought with a staircase and lost, becoming a CP paitent who doesn't have fun anymore--well, maybe a little :) ), I never had what you'd call a raging habit. I was mainly a weekend warrior (a term I saw on this board somewhere recently)....of course now, drinking was a different story entirely. But even still, I know I spent allot of money on drugs.... However, I have read and heard stories of junkies who claim to have a 300-400 dollar a day H or cocaine habit... and while I don't doubt it in the least, I just wonder how in the hell they come up with that kind of money??? A three hundred dollar daily salary would be decent money in most people's book... and I am assuming that most people with that kind of habit would find it difficult to hold down a job? I mean, having to come up with 300 hundred dollars a day to keep from getting sick... God, that's got to suck!!! Anyone with that kind of habit like to share how you are or were capable of maintaining it for any length of time?

In general, heroin is much stronger than any other opiates. It is also, in general, cheaper than pharms, just because pills are grossly overpriced.

Nah, i dont plan on using H. The subutex is doing fine right now. I was paying 20 for a 40 of OC. I cant afford to go back to using, i just got out of the red from a 4 year binge.

Seems like you're going thru a tough patch, there, BizzyBone. Hang in there, it'll get better, you'll find a way. I know when I'm coming off a long run, not only do I feel bad, but I feel *certain* that I'll always feel bad. But it'll pass.

Subs worked pretty good for a detox. Wait until you are a little sick, to take your first one, then try to do as little as possible, since you seem to have limited supply, but they definitely help get off other opiates. I got off methadone maintenance with'em, but I'm using them now for maintenance, 8mg a day, though I could get by on less, I'm sure.

But anyway, don't get discouraged, you'll find a way, where your spirits get lifted again. I don't know how many times I've been where you are, then right around the bend, something really cool comes up, make me happy...

Current status today: made some money today, spent some money today ...About half of what i made

I quickly found out today that im gonna need at least a whole 8mg sub daliy If i want to acheive my plan of quiting for good.I took a quarter this morning Then it hit me about an hour wasnt good enough so took da other quarter.....And worked from about 10 to 5 feeling alright but not good right before i left from work i started getting shakey and nervous for some reason ...maybe the subs? ( Never done it before when ive took sub) Any way came home worked on my car for about an hour drove it around for about 15 minutes come in and took another quarter ...it kicked in finally ..Almost didnt notice...so thats when i walked 2 apartments down and scored some pills....Why in the hell did i do this.....scared only got 3 quarters left of sub...i guess thats why...im not postive but im kinda sure if i had a script right in front of me i wouldnt have went and coped nothing....cause i coulda took a bigger dose of sub ...I just dont understand why do i do this for ...I told my fiance that i would have never guessed in millions of years i would get this bad...........(*I Should Of Known*)
