I know there are other threads dealing with anti-depressants, even specifically with SSRIs, but I’m looking for info on this specific drug and nothing else. I’m not fuckin around with a bunch of SSRIs, SNRIs, or any other anti-depressant. I’ve been against all this shit from the beginning, but my shrink made a really good case specifically for celexa, so I decided to take it, but if it doesn’t work, and especially if it makes anything worse, I’m not taking anything else that’s not a benzo that he gives me.
I’m starting on 10mg per morning of Celexa, and moving up to 20mg after a week. It’s supposed to be for both depression and anxiety.
I’m also on xanax, but it’s low dose, 20 0.5 mg a month. At least I was started off with benzos, which really do help, though now that I’m off the diverted benzos and sticking to the prescribed ones, 10mg a month just isn’t cutting it. Partially because he doesn’t want me dependant on benzos at 22, and partially because I admitted to him that I’m on mmt, and have talked about my other substance use, I just don’t think he wants to up my benzo load, at least not by much. If I can decrease my reliance on benzos for the anxiety then that’ll be a plus.
It seems like I’m not going to find anyone here with anything good to say about it, so I guess what should I look for in the way of negatives? How bad were the side effects? Did it just not work, or was it a spectacular failure? Pretty much whatever happens, I’m going to give this stuff 3 months, because that’s what I agreed to do, and I don’t like going back on my word unless I have to. I know what a lot of you think of shrinks, but I also know that this guy accepts me and the choices I’ve made in life regarding drugs a lot more then most people, and he’s not looking to change me, except in the ways that I want t change myself, so I have a lot of respect for him.
Also, what effects if any will this have on the 25mg (30mg starting Tuesday) of methadone that I’m taking a day? I take the celexa around 9am, and the methadone around 4:30pm on average, if that means anything to any possible interaction. Also, in your experience, What effect if any if this stuff going to have on the xanax when I take it? Will I need less? Might I need more? If it ups my requirement, which seems like the case right now, then it really seems not worth it.
Comments related to other SSRIs concerning the last couple points would be appreciated, considering they probably have similar impacts as far as drug-drug interactions go.
