Well, ever since I had that surgery on May, 2nd I havn't been able to toke up, and I was a daily toker for years up to this point!!! It sucks ass, especialy when you live with ppl that still toke daily.. and that danky smell comes to you and it jsut smells soooo good, the taste and smell was half the pleasure of toking to me(well keep in mind I prefer the skunky dank bud), but now, my toking days are apperntly over

Ever since that surgery that I've tried to toke up, I just start hurting so bad I have to lay down and it ruins my opiate buzz and then I have tot ake more opis than I shoulda that day to ease the pain! It like makes me aware of my pain... kinda makes me realize what was done to me and I can feel all that hardware in me(screws, cage, and rods-lower back). I guess it makes me like tune in with my biody or some shit? :S god does it suck though, cause toking up while blistered; floating around all tingly on some opis was one my alltime fav highs in the world! Up there with sex! but now, I no longer toke :(

I just figured I'd see if any of you guys are like this, as IO know alot of you are also in severe pain most of the time and seeing if any of you are like this... I know
this one 47yo dude(w00t, msContin man!) who said now when he tokes it also makes him very aware of his pain but he doesn't start hurting as bad as I do when i toke :S Though his trouble area is his neck mostly...

I just thought of this today when i was offered a bag and had to sadly refuse :( so let the stories flow folks!

You can't toke?

Nope, not at all but maybe 2-3 tokes...

It makes me aware of my pain, like I realize all the hardware that is in me now and stuff... It just makes me like kinda tune in with my body and I can feel all that hardware in me. So yeah, everytime I toke up I just start hurting pretty damn bad, and I was never like this before surgery :(

Basicly just makes me aware of my pain like I said in the original post

Is it the coughing that makes you hurt? I feel for you. I had my spleen removed 10 yrs ago, and everytime i couched, it was like iwas getting shivved.
Would you consider making some baked goods? You can just sautee some ground up reef in buter and slap it on some toast. not as spectacular as bong rips, but hey. That sucks about the "aware of your pain" thing.

I got this theory that the younger you start smoking the sooner you will get the paranoia buzz and have to quit. This is true of most smokers I know. The ones that started at age 13-15 just get anxious & paranoid & can't handle it any more by their early 20's. Me, I started @ 17, I'm pushing 30 now & still smoke but only tiny ammounts, any more makes me paranoid & useless. I reckon there's something to this theory of mine. What do y'all think?

I agree ^^ i started smokin when i was 13 n started gettin pretty bad anxiety attacks 4 yrs later. It got to the point of not bein fun ne more, so i havent smoked n 6 months. Guess it just lost its magic. But of course it was probley just the strain makin me skitz, i would always get the exact same shit every sac...but maybe not

I don't know if I'm the exception, but I've been puffing since 14 regularly and still at 24 am a daily smoker. I love me some weed.

I love marijuana for how it helps me with my pain, my nausea, stress, etc....but you have to have the good stuff and you have GOT to use a vaporizer most of the time instead of smoking.

Definitely try a good quality Indica. and Steer Clear of the Sativas!

Also, it's very possible that the anesthesia that they gave you altered your brain/neuro/digestive tract chemistry so that you react differently to MJ for now. It could take months to wear off, from what I've heard. Many people experience significant changes in neurochemistry after being put under anesthesia!

Also, the surgery itself, depending on what they did, could have altered your body in some way so that when the various cannabinoids do their thing, perhaps they irritate some part of your surgical sites? For example, getting the munchies could make the stomach contract and the intestines speed up, which could hurt like crazy for somebody who had GI Tract surgery!

Holy shit... you pegged me right there. I started smoking when I was 13. I smoked almost every day until the paranoia/anxiety hit at about 18. Stopped completely around the age of 20.

I was regular pot smoker up till a couple years ago. I just doesn't do it for me anymore, get's me dumber than I'd like to be. I choke on it bad too, I'm not a fan of smoking in general expect for maybe one good cigar a week, I don't like to inhale smoke. I can get the good shit, the cush and good cronic, just not my thing these days. My dad who is 60 years old still smokes everyday, he's the only reason I still have pot connections, so I can get it for him, gotta take care of dear old dad:). I see nothing wrong with smoking pot, I just don't like it.

You hit the nail on the head, Seedy! I started around 15 or so and by the time I was in my mid to late 20's, all I was getting was paranoid....not a good buzz....Then I quit smoking cigarettes and when I tried to smoke a joint, all I did was cough my fool head off. Take that and the paranoia and I quit for good. Oh well, I guess my lungs are happy now...

I think there's evidence to back up what Seedy says,I mean more than annnecdotal evidence.
Started smoking dope at 16,now 38 and still love it.

I tried after my surgery which left me a chronic pain sufferer and had my pain increase.Been trying for years and it only makes it worse so i really don't smoke anymore.I do agree that you need to try some medicinal indica strains. For some it works, however ive tried several different types of indicas,indica/sativa crosses and none of them have made any difference.Plus it just dosent make me feel good anymore.Strange with age this happens to a lot of people.Just tried some White Russian last night and was suffering worse but this shit puts me out.(asleep)1,2,3 hits and im wrecked. This is a highly sought after strain and hard to acquire cause the seeds sell out fast.Got lucky once.Good for me for im not a toker anymore... Not my pic but it looks the same.

Sounds like you need to try a good vaporizer with some high-quality indica! Trust me, it will completely revolutionize your concepts of what cannabis is really worth....

Im not a firm believer in Major differences in strains. But alot of people swear by it. I'm sure there are some slight differences. To me, major diff is amount of THC in a strain. i can tell the difference in flavors and harshness/smoothness of different strains. I think it's also how it's cured and/or dried. My opinion is not necessarily educated on this one but it's all I got for now.

Ike check it out man. I smoked everyday for about 7+ years CONSTANTLY...my wife too. Well she still does. But either way i dont smoke anymore i stopped about 4 months ago. Im telling you i smoked dank bud all day long and it was maybe an obsession.

Well i dont really know why i stopped but i just dont like it anymore. To me it doesnt compare to Opiates at all. Opiates give me everything i need and maybe in a way have replaced Ganja for me. I dont know but i just dont care for it anymore.

Honestly i used to think to myself i couldnt live without my weed and i didnt understand people who didnt smoke....i mean why not. I used to grow some really great varieties and had access to some primo shit. It just doesnt even matter to me anymore.

But i just dont give a fuck anymore and i save alot of cash....My wife still smokes alot and thats cool.

Opiates reign supreme in my life...they give me all the enjoyment i need. They take away my pain and cause euphoria.

So i dont know i thought i should add into this thread because in a way i can relate to what your sayin.

I agree man, stoned is stoned. The only difference is how stoned it's gonna get you as well as taste, smell & harshness. I generally smoke outdoor indica (i think) these days just because it's not so strong and therefore I can only get to a certain degree stoned off it and I doon't become quite such a retard :p

first, i skipped everyone's posts.

second, i have had several times in my life when there was just so much to think about, you know, the big issues, that i just COULD NOT smoke dope. when i did i felt absolutely horrible. axiety, paranoia etc.

eventually i came to see the connection; when life is good, i am happy, stress is low, marijuana is the most enjoyable.

when something is wrong and i need to make some changes, i cannot enjoy it and will not smoke it.

=============

Not sure if it's like this for everyone else, but for me dope is a sort of measuring stick for my mental health

EDIT: "sounds like you need to try a good vaporizer with some high-quality indica! Trust me, it will completely revolutionize your concepts of what cannabis is really worth...."

good point! quality is everything. i won't even smoke dope when i am @ home, homemade hash and oil only.

I started smoking when I was 18 and had quit by the time I was 25 because of the unholy panic I experienced. . . but I have noticed nowadays when I smoke occasionally (once every 4 months or so) I don't really have any anxiety... I'm actually considering making the switch back to weed from booze now that I'm not junked out...

Sounds like a healthy switch! I guess a more mature brain will handle the weed a bit better.

Swim started smoking around 13 then very heavily around 14-15. at 23 swim cannot handle it anymore. He blames it on the 2 primus tours he toured with (not in the band(s) mind you, as a lot kid) and nearly 2,500 hits of LSD later pot just affects him differently now. (as well as a bunch of other things)

Just some food for thought.

Makes sense. I started smoking when I was 16 or 17 and I'm still smoking today pushing 30-40

Hahhah, that's the funniest thing I've read in a while. Pushing 30-40, give or take 10 yrs. Not trying to offend, just found it funny.

I started at 15 and still toking at 30. Only difference now is when I started we would buy a quarter and smoke it in a couple hours, nowadays one hog-leg and I'm good to go for 3 or 4 hrs. Sure saves me some dough though.

I'm talking about oregano, of course ;) heheh, yeah.
