View Full Version : Potentiating opioids?

I don't know a whole lot about metabolism but I've read numerous posts here regarding different ways to potentiate opiates. People mention a lot that things like white grapefruit juice, acid blockers or DXM potentiate opiates. My question, and I hope it's not a stupid one, is whether these things work the same for synthetic opioids such as meperidine, methadone and Fent? Is there any difference in regards to this between natural deriv's like morphine or semi-synth's like hydro or oxy, and the totally synthetic ones?
The reason I ask is because what I usually come across these days is Hydrocodone or methadone and wonder if they can both be potentiated with these things the same.

In my opinion Yes the same things that potentiate hydro oxy and opium will also effect drugs like Methadone etc etc.
There is a wealth of knowledge about this round here....but i am sure you know that. For example there is a good guide that was made i believe by Cubert (correct me if im wrong) and a subsequent link provided by someone else that is also quite extensive. If you cant find it let me know.

Ok sorry for the double post. This took me a minute to find, litterally. Put this in the search
"A Work in Progress: "Opiate Potentiation" -by CUBErt (http://forum.opiophile.org/showthread.php?t=3363&highlight=potentiation)" just search the title to find simmilar threads or clink on the link i just gave.
I hope the info you require is here. im sure it is.
In my personal experience White Grapefruit Juice works great. I explain why if necesarry just let me know.
Alot of people dont like the taste...but if you can get down a good deal of it then you will notice an increase in the effects/duration of the opiate you use.
The first time i did it was the best i was genuinely shocked that it worked so well. To be honest it has worked as well since but.....i did have a shitload that first time.
peace

Yes, check out Cube's thread, the later posts where he has edited have the best info. To answer your question, no just because one thing potentiates one drug does not mean it will for another. It depends on how the drug is metabolized, what it gets metabolized to, and several other things, lots of detail in cube's thread.

Thanks guys for the info. I'll read through that thread and it sounds like what I wanted to know is in there.
