bMe and the wife were just talking about the Why Vicodin and not Oxy thing. Personally i think its because "Vicodin" is more socially exceptable in the media. Which by the way i think is riddiculous. BUt youll notice on tv and music theyll mention vicodin more that oxy. I mean in reallity doctor house would be eating oxy if not something better but because its tv....welll what i just said.

I have only seen one episode, I don't get tv / don't want it. I stick to movies. Anyways .. this lady steals Meth from some patient with aids, takes it , fucks her co-worker, then comes into work the next day all tweaked out. That was some funny shit. And even though I've never seen the show, as with all shows it's going to build to the oh so big episode where this doctor house guy needs help and has to do the hardest thing of his life ,, kick the vic's. It will be a 3 episode type ordeal and show all the evils of opiate abuse, and how much better his life is once he kicks.

It started out by House seeing a new patient who thought he had an STD, house disagreed and was very vocal as usual. House ended up sticking a thermometer up the cops ass just to be a prick. Later down the line, house is riding home on his bike and he gets pulled over. Cop finds his vicodins and arrests him. House gets bailed out by his doc friend, keeps popping the pills so far. The cop is investigating all of his coworkers now, and it seems House used his friends script pad (a friend who was writing his vic's) to get more. Cop also searched house's house and found a big 'ol stash of pills. That's pretty much all that has gone on so far, it really is a good show despite house's choice of weak opiates. Where's his morphine drip and fent patches?

Unfortunately didn't see that one DAG, but my girlfriend was actually 'concerned' about House when she was explaining what happened on that one. She & I have both grown fond of the ol' "poperooski" ye olde House pulls multiple times each episode due to our own personal monkeys (media you can relate to - except it wouldn't be V's), but sometimes I do admit I honestly wish House could somehow "FLING" one of those bottles through the screen; rewind - repeat/ - etc. Being able to change pill type and volume would be choice. Ahh, sweet sweet unachievable goals. Anyways, hopefully the real world will close in on House and he will start moving up the "food chain" of pillage so to speak - however, that will never happen on a long term bases due to public understanding/image. Nevertheless, I just keep mentally replacing each vic he pops with something tastier and that makes me happy - and jealous - at the same time.

I think the show is OK but i get 5-8 channels whit me antenna ears. but I probably have watched too much of it He likes his opies and personally I thought it was cool when they gave him a bunch of ketamine without him knowing to get him to reboot. the last episode where he helped the father to kill himself in AC for a heart to save his son was cool They have hit on harder shit ie morphine shots but everyone and ther mommie knows what vics are so what u think will be the focal point of his pill taking. this is hollywood kids fucking hollywood

This is also one of my favorite shows. It's on now, actually, on USA at 11:00 on Friday's. I love his sarcasm, and the fact that he's a junkie. I was really into the ketamine block that he got. Brought good attention to K.

As far as the vic v. oxy thing, yeah, I think it's because more people know what it feels like and they also think it's pretty strong, and also it might have to do with the media being weary of promoting oxy like someone else said.

Hugh Laurie is pretty hot though. I think it would be hard to get into certain positiions with his bum leg though. I also like his boss, she's pretty hot and sarcastic. I also like the female doctor under him. His research assistant or whatever she is.

I thought it was great and funny when that older lady had brain damage from syphillis or something and was constantly hitting on everyone. Funny stuff.

Personally, if all i had to work with was Vic's, I would take a hell of a lot more. Usually, if I'm resorting to those, its about 15 after a CWE, and i just barely feel "not sick"

Funny thought here, but what my mom would say, as she was a fellow o'phile too, before she died of cancer a few years ago, is probably something to the effect of, "Toss that garbage, go buy a bundle or some K-4's"

At any rate, back to the subject of the thread. House is f'kin brilliant, and the ONLY show that i bother to watch on TV. Any others, i just download via bittorrent, since the 15 mins of commercials make it not worth watching.

I think tm hit the nail on the head. I read the Enquierer last week (wouldn't have bought it if I were sober,) and there was a headline about Lindsey Lohan's coke and vicodin binge/hospitalization. I read the article, and aside from the vike's she was also on dilaudid. I questioned "Why would they not mention the hydromorphone in the headline? That makes hydrocodone look like crap!" Then I realized, no one would know what the fuck dilaudid is.

House rocks. I think everyone is on the money about Vicodin - everybody knows what it is. We have an ongoing conversation here about why they selected that particular narcotic for his character to use. They mentioned in the first season that he was using "at least eight pills a day". They don't tell us what strength Vicodin he is using so we can't do the math, but the APAP content of even 8 5/500s is (obviously) 4 grams. Not deadly of course, but not very frickin' good for long-term opiate therapy, especially without a CWE.

If it had to be hydro, at LEAST it could be Norco or a 15/200 compound. But again, there is the problem of those not being being as recognizable.

It was a different episode when he tripped on LSD. It was Season 2 Episode 12 where he is trying to disprove an old college rival's research.

It was a little bit silly, because it just doesn't seem like House would be the kind of guy who would have acid sitting around his house - but who knows, he isn't a real predictable character sometimes.

This is a great show.I hate having to wait until January to see the next new one.

I prefer to wait until the entire season has run, then download it and watch them commercial-free back to back.

It eliminates that whole feeling of waiting for the next episode (except for the obvious cliffhanger at the end of the season) but it gets really fun.

I didn't start watching the show 24 until after the 5th season ran - then I just downloaded all of them and we watched them back to back that way. That show was like crack, one episode just made you want to see the next one all the more.

I want Dr. Greggory House to be my doc. I'm sure there are docs out there that abuse pain meds, there HAS GOT TO BE.

But that's beside the point, it's a great show, i love it. I love his voice, his deep voice. He does an America accent so well. I don't think any other actor could have pulled this off as he has.

I love house! Do you know that the actor once played a snobby rich college kid in an episode of that British tv show "The Young Ones". He was a riot then too.

The Young Ones was such a fucking awesome show. It is rare to find anyone who even has heard of it outside Britan.

And yeah; House is a good show too.

I love the show too... although, I have always sort of thought his use of vicotin is a bit unreasonable.... and I also would like to have him as my doc... but I think we'd all be too boring for him.... the episode where he left the therometer in the pigs ass is my all time favorite!

He also gets a shot of morphine to his spine from Dr. Cuddy in the episode "Skin Deep" but at the ned she reveals that she gave him saline thus proving his pain was psychological

I'm so sick of celebrities and athletes saying that they are addicted to vic's. Is it just me, or does everyone else think that its OC's, and they just say its vic's to save face?

Yeah, I love that show too. In fact, its on right now. He is such a ruthless bastard, and that's exactly what I love about him. I wish I had a doctor like that. Can you imagine him hobbling in to you exam room, pulling out his Vicodin bottle and downing 6-7 before sitting down to talk to you... hey, you need one?? LOL

One thing I don't understand, however, is why the writers of the show don't use a med that more realistic. A doctor would certainly not be downing that much APAP on a regular basis. I know, its TV, and not suppose to be reality.

I, too, don't like the cast of the show as good as I did in the first season. The shows and stories are as good; in fact, I think its getting better in that regard. But, I just don't understand the cast right now.

I hate how he gets so high off of like 1 or 2 vicodin in his shows. I mean when I started out I was only 16 140lbs and I had to take at least 3-4 to get a buzz going. I dunno I wish it was a little more realistic, and who sprinkles vicodin on there sandwich? There is absolutely no point to that and the apap would make it taste so f'n nasty. Hasn't there been an episode where he shoots something up though? What was that?

I've read that the writers use Vicodin because more people have heard of and been scripted Vics than any other pain killer. It makes him a little more accessible to more viewers...

Plus with all the bad press around a more realistic drug choice like OxyCotin, it wouldn't be a good PR move to have House doing rails of 80s and bitching about the Teva brand. Same goes for Percs... They wanted to stay away from anything "Oxy-."

But he has stolen Percs in one episode and did LSD in another; and didn't he inject illegally obtained morphine in one episode? Who knows, maybe his habit will get worse and he'll end up riding the Methadone train.

Poor guy.

It was something to do with a jazz musician who'd done drugs himself, and at the end of the ep you just see him lying down playing the guy's album and the empty syringe. :D

There was also an ep where he was forced to detox on bupe (and another where he detoxed CT for a bet).

Detox on Bube? I never saw that one! I caught one the other night where this jack-ass copper has it out for House, and pulls him over on his bike to bust him with his pockets full of stolen Vicodin. They play some pretty cool episodes for prime time television. I've never really known a show to have so much of their plot based on opiates.

And it is true that they use vics because of their popularity among the main-stream TV watching population. . . and I'm sure Purdue would be pissed if they showed him fixin OC's or something.
