Situational Effect, I believe is't called...

If you always shoot your drugs in the same room, same way, same time of day, same everything, then your body gets used to it. When your body gets in that situation, it starts ramping up those neurotransmitters, dilating those viens, and getting ready to get high. Adds to tolerance though, which is why when you go shot up somewhere else, your regular dose might feel a bit better than usual, or if it's really different, you might OD.

So, I always... always, always, always... have a glass of white grape fruit juice with a Tagament before I dose. (Yeah I know, they do the same thing, better save and high than sorry and sober.) So what do you think happens when I, today, drank a glass of grape fruit juice with my breakfast of eggs and toast? What do you think happened five minutes later when I got heartburn and took a Tagament?

That's right friends, without a bit of opiate or benzo in my system, I caught a mild buzz. Not much mind you, just enough to make me grin a bit more.

Neat trick, totally mind over matter, but fun nonetheless. If you have a regular non-narcotic habit you might try doing that without the opiate to see if you buzz too.

I used to have a similar effect a while back when I drank grapefruit juice to augment the pods. I would drink a big glass of grapefruit juice about 20 minutes or so before drinking the pod grounds.

It got to the point where I would start to feel a little bit better just from drinking the juice because my body and brain knew what was coming next. It's just like Pavlov's dog, which was conditioned to salivate when it heard a bell because Pavlov rang a bell before feeding the dog every day. I had conditioned myself in the same way with the juice.

I eventually stopped using the juice because I really couldn't tell that much difference in the overall effect, and grapefruit juice is so foul and disgusting in flavor that it just wasn't really worth gagging that shit down even if it did work.

I was thinking about this on my way to cop tonight. I usually get really jumpy, and w/dish (even if I'm not in w/d's) when I'm on my way to cop. It's always like this, unless I have more at home and this is just a "good deal" cop, not an out of necessity cop. So, kind of the same thing, just in reverse. Then as soon as it's in my pocket, I feel 100x better, like sublime. w/d's cured, even before the hit. Too many tangents, I know. Point is, I know what you mean, have experienced it, too.

Sometimes I wait as long as possible to get high, just enjoying that feeling of sweet anticipation.

weird shit. the mind is very powerful. I'm not fucking around, I can stare into the mirror and make my pupils dilate. (I cannot make them constrict as hard as i try)

Theres some crazy shit out there about mind over matter- buddist monks can do some impossible things- I read somewhere that one could reverse his digestive tract and drink with his butt and dump from his mouth. Wait... that was south park.

I can say this,I did the same train trip to my chemist, daily and then weekly for 16 years and my head was like a pinball machine when I saw certain cues. It's not always good,it's hard to be sick somewhere you spent a lot of time high.

That's funny, I'm kind of the opposite. If I'm sick but at least on my way, i feel better than before i left, like some of the sickness has lifted. If I'm ok and just picking up for the hell of it, I don't notice anything. Something about just holding it in my hand makes me feel better.

That is very difficult Nick. Any way to vary your train route at all? I just have one option and hate stopping at certain stops when I'm not stopping there, if that makes sense??

Makes perfect sense Vax,but given the state of trains here,I'm just lucky to get one.At least I'll be in the US for a bit, soon.Haven't been in an age,so that should help.

The mind is a very powerful thing... as is palcebo. Don't underestimate what you can think of and kinda happen tot hink you're thinking you're feeling :p

THis happenes alot to the ppl whsoe got under 5-7years under their belt of use... not uncommon at all.

Such as the sugar pill thing. YOu would not beleive how many of the younger crowd will get some sort of effects from a sugar/filler pill pressed that looks jsut like a percocoet... ;)

but that shit sadly, wont work for me anymore :( i used to play with my mind back in HS like that lol.

This is very true. Sometimes when I haven't had opiates in a while and try to just use cottons with old Dilaudid in them and miss the shot or even hit my nose will instantly start running and I feel like shit. Even if I was fine beforehand.

This has happened to me several times...

Occasionally, since I have back problems, every once in a while I'd wake up and have horrible lower back pain. I'd actually dwell on the pain so much, I thin I tricked my brain into releasing a whole bunch of endorphins. I would actually feel slightly buzzed. I'm not sure if it was the actual pain I was dwelling on, or the fact that I knew if I had some pills, all would be better.

Then other times, I'd just be sitting alone in my basement with all the lights off except the christmas lights I have strung everywhere, listening to some atmospheric music. I'd just be thinking good thoughts, and the lighting was right I guess, and within a few minutes, I just felt that feeling. Body get's a little warmer, sort of tingly, you can feel your eyes start drooping, even got a tiny bit itchy. I didn't understand it, but I definately didn't mind! =P

It's amazing what kind of things your mind can do for you. I actually tried to master the power of mind over matter type stuff, just for the sole fact of acheiving an opiate like high any time I wanted, free of charge thanks to my ood ol' brain. Just like alot of things, I just gave up and quit trying, though. Who knows. Now that I've read through this thread, maybe I'll start back up again. hehe

The pavlov's dog effect is quite real to me; I spent alot of time in a particular room w/d'ing and in pain.

I noticed that whenever I went in that room I would start exhibiting mild w/d symptoms (but not for long).
