I have been given a script for Toradol to deal with some recurring migraines. Anyone know if it is safe to punch?

I don't know why you'd want to, there isn't much effect. Also the bioavailability is the same for iv, im and po.

No need to "punch" toradol. It is a NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflamatory drug) and therefore has no "buzz" factore. It may be good for relieving migraines (I get them too) so if it works for that throw it in your drawer for when you have a really bad one and no meds. I take DHE and Zomig for migraines. I usually combine that with hydrocodone, or more recently (as of today) actiq suckers. That way there is both a nice buzz and real relief. They will probably run you through every non-narcotic medicine before you start getting opies. It took me five years of doing guinea-pig therapy before they realized nothing else will work and started giving me pain killers with the traditional migraine meds.

thanks dude. that was the exact info i was looking for. what are actiq suckers? Any other way to get through the guinea-pigging? If I told them I dont react well to DHE or Zomig, for example?

any insight on the pill identification?

cheers

^have you checked out Sandoz' canadian site? They've got a version of their site for each country. All I know is it's not one that's available in the US. Are you positive on the Sandoz ID? Is the logo clear enough to tell that much?

Actiq is a Fentanyl lollipop, I have had quite a few different narcs scripted over the years, some strong and some not. Throwing out a general statement about reacting badly to a medication may throw up red flags (i.e., I worry about my liver, or I am allergic to NSAIDs) You had better know what you are talking about- DHE gives me a tight feeling in my chest and makes my blood pressure go up a bit, plus it doesn't seem to help a whole lot- or something like that. However if you say that kind of thing about too many medications and you don't have documentation (medical records, referrals, etc. . .) to back it up, they will think you are just trying to get narcs. I get really fucking bad and frequent headaches, and have ever since I was a kid, so I have tons of records showing all of the treatments that I have done over the years (everything from nerve blocks to medications to chiropractic) and have found that the only things that work are a few select migraine drugs and narcotics. I take them both at the same time, because one without the other is not nearly as effective. Another thing that helped was when I had to go to the ER and Urgent Care all of the time because I was not getting relief from my medications. They told me that I needed to talk to my doctor about pain management plans because they were seeing me too often. So, while yes I do get strong narcotics for these headaches, keep in mind that I have spent 10s of thousands of dollars trying to get relief from a truly debilitating condition and that I have a legitimate need because other shit doesn't work. If you aren't willing to go through all of that you probably won't get anything greater than 20 or 30 vicodin a month. It's not too hard to find a doctor willing to go that route, especially if you request it with another medication to try to prevent/ treat the headaches (like Topomax/ Depikote/ nortriptyline/ Relpax/ etc) and you don't automatically discount non-narcotic treatments.
By the way, just in case you are thinking about it, don't try to bang any combo meds like vicodin or percocet. Maybe you weren't thinking about it, I just thought I would throw that in there.
