Long time lurker First Post

Say swim had made Hydrocodone from Codeine useing h2o/Etoh /Pd black.What is the best way to extract the Hydrocodone besides just evaparating the mixture.Then swim decides to make hydromorphone from the hydrocodone via HBr/boric acid .What is the best way to extract this .Do as with morphine and raise Ph to 9.2 or higher and extract with nonpolar solvent.Swim don't want to wast product experimenting and any and all input will be deeply appreciated.

Um, yeah, welcome. You might want to get your feet wet here before posts like this. There's a certain vibe we tend to get when a brand new member is looking for info as such.

Maybe try a typical introductory thread first, and participate around here for a while.

OK guys sorry about the jump right in post.I have a got a bit of chemistry background . I started refining gold from computer parts and junk jewlery several years ago.Never got rich but i loved the hobby. I have delt with all sorts of pretty bad chems and have a great understanding of safety and procedure.I used to be in the so called drug crowd but moved away and really kinda stick to myself now.The chems i have (be surprised what you can find on Ebay) and lots of glassware and after over a year of reading on the forum and other internet sites .i think a fair understanding of opiate Chemistry but not like the big guys like Boro ,Woody and the likes.Again sorry about the blunt first post and will try to be more gentle with my next ones .And thanks for your replys .

My first A/B extracton was DMT from Mimosa Root .It worked great and when i done it ,it was like being shot out of a cannon into a Kalidiscope in 5 seconds and i think that is what got me started in the new style of chemistry i am intrested in ,Be easy on me i am new and have to learn the ropes around here.

Welcome, I don't care what anyone else says, the way you first choose to introduce yourself should be your choice and how you portray yourself is totally up to you, what people make of it is up to them. I think it's a pretty fascinating intro, but as someone else said, there is a proper place to post anything else like that..I'm still in the process of figuring out where to post stuff and I've been a member since uhh, whatever it says on my profile. You're smart enough to know your way around chemistry and to think about mining gold from computer parts, so you're smart enough to navigate your way around here, I'd gather. see, this is where it gets confusing for me, there are so many sub-categories that it confuses the crap out of me and i have no idea where to post it. I'd read a few threads in the chemistry section/subsection and see what kind of stuff is in each of the subcategories and maybe you'll get a feel for where to post future stuff? and using the search engine is pretty helpful, too, but doesn't always pan out for me, so sometimes, it's just trial and error, practice makes perfect, etc, etc

I guess the question is in the right forum they have further sub forums on codeine and hydrocodone etc etc so i guess it could go there but general is fine doesnt matter. but i more ment your intro needing to be inthe hello and goodbye, its not the end of the world i was just throwing you a little advice.

Say SWIM actually SUCCESSFULLY converts codeine to hydrocodone, if you use the route you're discussing, the yields are seriously inflated, you won't get even close to what you think you're going to get (80%)

It's an equilibrium reaction and that right there kills your yields.

Buy a chemistry book online. Organic Chem I and II are usually taught from the same book.

Study the mechanisms form the reactions, not the reactants themselves. You've got NO chance of actually getting a usable substance by coming on here and asking stupid shit yourself.

Buy a Merck, Vogel's and Organic Chem (undergrad level is fine). Understand Sn1, Sn2, functional groups, etc...
