Yeah.... I got to go to one of his art presentations in South Carolina about 6 years ago.
He is an individual - that's for sure. Such a presence about him. Gotta love David Byrne.
Mix has taken me to "Rock & Roll" by Velvet Underground.

sickness.... was Stills responsible for putting these "sessions" on?
Because I was given a bootleg copy of a practice session called "Pedro Sessions"
with Stills, Young, Garcia, Grace Slick and some others. It's pretty good - mainly
just practicing - but some great moments.
Super Sessions is great. Thanks for the reminder Poon- I'll have to give a listen today.

If you have never heard of Alexander Marcus, you are in for a rare treat. This guy is beyond parody and so deeply imbedded in his own behind that the whole is fucking insanity. I love it. I want a shirt.
At 3:00 mark, he wakes up from his shot in the arm and well, it just gets even more strange from there.

Very good song!
"Porcelain" - Moby is on Pandora right now. That song is what the end of summer sounds like to me.
Yes Paolo is one of my favorite recent finds. A lot of soul.
That's funny you ay that about "Porcelain".... it too reminds me of Fall - the end of summer. Not
sure why. I think my roommate in Asheville used to play that album/song a lot one Fall.
Good times. But that song kind of feels depressing to me too. Not sure if it's because those were
weird times - or if it's the tone of the song.
Right now I'm listening to "Streets in the Rain" by the Samples

Yeah it was quite humorous..... the Meatpuppets were booed while playing Lake of Fire.
People in the crowd were complaining that they were playing a "Nirvana" song. Idiots.
The crowd was terrible all night.

"at least get some style people.... I mean..... a birkinstock?"
Anyway..... both bands brought the heat regardless. Great show.

Blind Melon (Hoon... RIP) --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQUNigVcBB8

the original by Hoyt Axton --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0KcLVIldP4
the wiki --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pusher
the lyrics:
You know I've smoked a lot of grass
O' Lord, I've popped a lot of pills
But I never touched nothin'
That my spirit could kill
You know, I've seen a lot of people walkin' 'round
With tombstones in their eyes
But the pusher don't care
Ah, if you live or if you die
God damn, The Pusher
God damn, I say The Pusher
I said God damn, God damn The Pusher man
You know the dealer, the dealer is a man
With the love grass in his hand
Oh but the pusher is a monster
Good God, he's not a natural man
The dealer for a nickel
Lord, will sell you lots of sweet dreams
Ah, but the pusher ruin your body
Lord, he'll leave your, he'll leave your mind to scream
God damn, The Pusher
God damn, God damn the Pusher
I said God damn, God, God damn The Pusher man
Well, now if I were the president of this land
You know, I'd declare total war on The Pusher man
I'd cut him if he stands, and I'd shoot him if he'd run
Yes I'd kill him with my Bible and my razor and my gun
God damn The Pusher
Gad damn The Pusher
I said God damn, God damn The Pusher man

I agree with that to an extent...I love the acoustic version as it really changes the tone of the song, makes it very emotional and more of the longing for the woman, as I'm sure Clapton meant, but the original really sets a similar mood but more in the mind-blowing frustrated do-or-die mentality, I think, this post sounded better in my brain...
BTW--Clapton is my third favorite guitarist...2 years ago I had about 5 months clean time and my mom was very proud of me so for my birthday she got me a ticket to see him which was $$$ and he was brillant, played mostly all blues covers, but the standards, Layla Wonderful Tonight, etc...great player and fellow opiophile!! I know it's not from "Cloud Nine" but I don't know which of his solo works it's originally on. The version I'm listening to is from "Concert For George" It's a tribute album that came out one year after he died. The band is made up of people like Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Joe Brown and too many others for my feeble mind to recall.
It's a double CD set with the first CD being made up of some great East Indian pieces composed and played by Ravi Shankar and a traditional Indian orchestra. Ravi's daughter conducts. The second CD covers George's career from the Beatles into the Traveling Wilburys. You'd probably really like it. I know I do.
