Damien Rice - "The Professor (Live)" (Live Concert Recording) [2007 Live Recording]

Excellent song from the 'B-Sides' EP released by Damien Rice a few years ago; classic, and a tune that I can definitely relate to :

Gnarls Barkley - Who Cares

I *love* the lyrics to this song:

"Basically I'm complicated
I have a hard time taking the easy way
I wouldn't call it schizophrenia
But I'll be at least 2 people today

If that's okay

And I can go on and on and on... but who cares?

It's deep how you can be so shallow
And I'm afraid cause I have no fear
And I didn't believe in magic
Until I watched you disappear

I wish you where here

And I can go on and on and on... but who cares?

You see, everybody is somebody
But nobody wants to be themselves
and If I ever wanted to understand me
I'll have to talk to someone else

Cause every little bit helps

And I can go on and on and on... but who cares?

Feels like... the surreal life
But it's still nice
Wish I could live twice
but I still might
if these bones heal right
I see a little light
though it's still night

Feels like... surreal like
But its still nice
Wish I could live twice
but I still might
if these bones heal right
I see a little light
though it's still night

And I can go on and on and on... but who cares?

And I can go on and on and on... but who cares?"

Mudhoney : "The Rose"

(actually "The Rose" was written by Bette Middler, AFAIK but Mudhoney wrote their own music to those words for the song, and even added their own vers of words right in the middle of THEIR song and did an awesome job at writing the music for that piece)

Anyways, following poo-poon's :p example, i think i'll post a video link here too

It's a great song, very slow paced for Tech N9ne but it's basically about how the music industry treats him like an outcast and a "clown" cuz he is a black dude rapping about different things and paints his face for live shows....the song and video are a banger....any fan of rap i suggest givin it a listen.

Awesome, just awesome. I have been to Sedalia several times and have heard of the show there. Was it at an outdoor amphitheater time thing?

Uncle Wiggly
04-26-2009, 10:14 PM
I believe it was at the fairgrounds. It was a three day festival with a lot of great bands. There were people who had tents set up with signs on them advertising what they were selling. I could probably write a small book about my experiences at this festival. I've mentioned it at least once in a prior post.

You can Google "Ozark Mountain Music Festival" and find a link to a pretty good Wiki article about it. It's not entirely accurate as far as bands that performed goes. For instance it says Aerosmith and the Daredevils were rumored to have been there. They were there because I saw and heard them. I don't care how much LSD I had taken at the time. :D

I can't just listen to one track from Aladdin Sane. It seems to loose something if not heard in it's entirety. Breaking out hard with Watch That Man and ending soft with Lady Grinning Soul. I'm a huge Bowie fan and this is one of his best - maybe THE best but that depends on my mood. There's something about the dark undercurrent of Diamond Dogs that I love as well although it can get a bit over the top at times.

Bob Marley's album "Kaya" If you don't have this you are missing out on some of the finest music ever made.

Probably my favorite Bob Marley album(other than his really early stuff), reminds me of the great summer I had between 10th and 11th grade when I was in HS.

Not in a cheesey, frat guy(or girl), I'm trying to relive my youth sort of way , but my later HS years were some of the best of my life, I was healthy, happy and I felt like I was really going to go somewhere with my life. How things change...

After saying that and knowing how music can really take me back in time, I sometimes have a hard time listening to music from that part of my life because it can make me bitter and resentful and melancholic about the life I have now, compared to the life I was living and the life that I thought I was going to have.

sorry for being a loser :o

anyways, yeah, great album...

With Bankrupt On Selling by Modest Mouse playing on the computer, SWIM is about to shoot a dope crack/dope dope mixture already drawn up. What a day, full of all the world's serendipitous potential... Aaahhh, here goes nothin'...

Oh God. Holy fucking christ. SWIM's first speedball is a major success story. An annoying little bump from some lemon juice that slipped under the skin as I removed the works. Golly, and I always heard that speedballs were as boring as watching paint dry. Gotta say, I think watching glass slowly exhibit its fluid properties over decades would be made mighty exciting by a ball of pure speed. Wooo Doggy! If only I had a smoke. I'd say that's the only way this could be better, but I vaguely intuit instinctually that to even admit a speedball could stand to gain in its pure heavenliness is tantamount to if one were to blasheme against God to the extent of calling him, in all ingenuousness, lower in moral aptitude than the bastard child of Satan and Jeffrey Dahmer. Mmmmm. Hope you enjoyed and were not rather annoyed.

I must do this again some time (now? nah, I'm not that bad--but...I guess since I know at least that, it but illustrates the extent to which I understand, and hence have control over, my situation...yeah, now should be okay (hehe)). If you are virgin to the bliss of this diaphonous and pure synergistic syzygy sans solo (I'm a cunning linguist, and word play instills in me an ecstasy well-nigh approaching the effects of ecstasy, though I have on occasion been known to be struck with the dreaded and execrable logorrhea), and with especial clamancy for those of weak dietary fiber--err, moral fiber--and are prone to addiction, this city in the country of osculant drug conjugates positively MUST be visited. And so I ask again: "You've never been? Ah, but the foliage in Autumn is inimitable, and the fruit bearing trees growing wild like weeds make for an ethnobotanical symphony the likes of which Franz Lizst would be proud."
Okay, so was that entertaining or just obnoxious and pretentious. Because I really do enjoy wordsmithery, and moreso when on uppers. If anyone enjoyed that: I love you; you are my missing piece.

PS, I used the pronoun "I" in this and the previous post purely for reasons of narrative flow. Both of these are entirely fictional and hence in no ways incriminating to me nor even SWIM. Thank you.
PPS, for the sake of relevance to this thread, I am now auditorily imbibing Animal Collective's seminal work "April and the Phantom."

Siouxsie & the Banshees - "Kiss Them For Me"
