View Full Version : Back pain?

I'm on my second day of ct pst w'ds. I've gone a day or two without before and been pretty sick. Seems like at least once/month I go a day or two without and about 24 hours after my last dose the wd's kick in. Stomach, rls, headache, anxiety etc.

Well, the last 3 times I've gone a couple days without, I've had TERRIBLE lower back pain. Like can't think straight pain. For the ladies out there, think back labor. Not exaggerating.

Well, this time I'm deciding (fingers crossed) to actually kick pst for, well, good? Idk, at least awhile. I've been taking lope, kratom and valium. I actually feel just fine, except this fucking back pain. I mean, I'm walking like an 80 year old.

I've taken hydro and ibuprofen, nothing is touching it. Is this normal? Like I said before, I didn't used to get this pain, it's only been within the last month. I KNOW I can kick this, but the back pain is almost unbearable.

I'm in the process of getting drunk (and I rarely drink) to just try and help the pain. BUT, fuck, I'm a mom, I have responsibilities. I can't stay drunk 24/7. AND, this is FAR from my first kick. Fuck, I've kicked xanax, oxy, coke (I know diff catagory), and many other things but I've never had pain like this. Muscle, body aches and pain yes but not like this.

Anyone dealt with this pain before? Any advice? Or do I just need to "suck it up buttercup" as someone near and dear to me said the other night?

Sorry, to bitch. Any advice is welcome.

when your body is adjusting to the lack of opiates, its response will almost always be pain in some form of fashion. You know that. I've heard allot of folks complain of back pain while kicking. I is common. And, of course since I have a bad back myself, mine hurts like a mother fucker when opiates are not present in my system. Try and hang in there. If you do not have any underlying back problems, it should pass with time.

Have I mentioned lately that you are one kick ass chick?! LOL For a noob, I am impressed. Mr. U100 is one lucky man, imo. ;)

Good for you, deciding to kick the shit. I'm sorry it's not goin' so well.

I might avoid lope, for what it's worth. The amount of relief it will provide is probably pretty minuscule, especially if hydro isn't touching it, and I've heard some scary things about problems it's caused people. Let's see if I can find it...

I know I've seen it more than once, and more than in this thread. Just a heads up.

i second the do not do lope thing.

it needlessly jacks your tolly, and the only thing it does is buy you time.

time isnt cheap.

if you are going to kick the shit, then kick it.

if not, dont waste you time with lope.

a day or two before refill, maybe.

any longer than that...

Why thank you Red, actually we're both lucky lol. And yes, you have mentioned it, and I think you are quite kick ass yourself :)

Aus and DW, thanks for the advice on lope. I will read that thread and see what it says. When I've "kicked" in the past it's always been a lifesaver. I use the term loosely though because I've never kicked for more than a few weeks before I'm back to using something else. We shall see I guess.

Hi MollyKicks, I am trying to not use daily and chip (yeah, err, wish me luck) and while I have passed the real withdrawal stage, I am having this lower back pain too. It is not as bad as you describe but it is persistent and uncomfortable. Here is my question, how can a lack of something in your brain (opiates) cause specific pain in your body (lower back)? I understand that your brain is trying to rebalance itself and that's why you have sneezing, watery eyes, insomnia, etc, but how does your brain choose which body part to make painful?

BTW nice sig! I know that Disconnect had back pain problems, too.

^ Smoke was telling me a few weeks ago that even having been sober for a month or so, the psychological aspect of his addiction still remained (which many people say), and he said that his brain continued to produce flu-like physical withdrawal symptoms when he was craving. So that might be the deal with the back pain–just a guess.

It's so weird, the whole w/d process you know? So far, day 3 I think, and it all hasn't been too awful. My back is still hurting but it has gotten better. Kratom is my true lifesaver. I owe Mu my life lol. This has been the easiest kick so far, but I keep waiting for the real bad parts to set in. The worst parts are my crazy ass emotions and the back.

Thanks, I love the sig too...she fit me to a tee. I love the whole pin up girl style. Always have :)

DW: Smokey told me the pain in his whole spine was so intense during w/ds that it still makes him cringe thinking about it. Ugh. It's an odd thing fer sure!

If I had money to spend on drugs I wouldn't be kicking in the first place. I appreciate the advice tho.

I have Chronic Back Pain from an autoimmune thing. If I take Lope it seems to take care of a lot of pain-really-Lope is bad as f@%k for your body but yes it works.(on the depression too if you get the dose just right) Too much=stomach pain, bloating, blurred vision, and chalk dry mouth. Just right=just a tad of dry mouth and pretty much feeling normal except some cravings. Sorry I derailed-if I do go to wd's or not enough lope it feels literally like my back is falling out of my body toward the floor when I stand up,and it cuts all the way through to my front/abdomen.(does this make sense?) I have always wondered if it was the wd's or the uncovering of my true pain under the pain meds.
I do agree with the others though, Lope only buys time and a new drug to taper off of...trading physical dependence. When I go back to my meds, they do not make me anything but well for about ten days. If I have to live in pain damnabit I should at least get a little boost form the meds! Right? LOL!

It does buy you time but you pay for it later.

I was talking to someone about that the other day. I had a pretty nasty fall a few months ago...and with the back pain being new. I was wondering if, because I'm basically medicated all the time, I'm not feeling the back pain unless I'm in wds. Idk, seems like it would come through at other times too though. Other pains do. It's just so odd and really, completely drives me to almost madness sometimes.

I'm still on the lope fence. Gonna see about just kratom.
