Ok, I'm going to get my choice of one of two benzos prescribed to me next week: either 45mg Temazepam or Triazolam ("Halcion"). I've been getting Temazepam 30mg for some time now, and they've been working fine, but I may be developing a slight tolerance to them. So in my never-ending quest for new, exciting, and stronger drugs, I BS'd my doc into thinking that my 30mg Temazzies aren't working so good at all anymore.
Well, he gave me a silly 7-day trial of Lunesta, and told me to call him in a week and let him know if they work or not, and if not, he'll Rx me 45mg Temazepam, or Triazolam. Of course, I will be telling him that Lunesta is crap, and would like the benzo.
I like Temazepam, and a stronger version sounds nice, but I've also heard that Triazolam can be fun, too. Anyone wanna give me their opinion on which way to go? Thanks!

I think I would stick with the Tamazepam myself. Halcion is alright and everything but it is no Tamazepam. Of course everyone like's different Benzos differently so you may disagree; maybe see if he will switch you to see how you handle them with the understanding that if they aren't any better you can always go back to the Tamazepam?

If you are going strictly for fun, I would say get the Halcion. I have had temazepam and thought it was ok. I never had the Halcion, so I would try something that was new if I was just looking at it from that point of view. If I was going to use them to help with the insomnia from W/D, though, I would take the temazepam. I think the Halcion is pretty short lived like xanax. When I was using benzos for w/d I had to use the 2mg K-pins. Xanax would let me fall asleep, but I would wake up like an hour later.

I never could get a buzz on Halcion and took a boatload trying; it also has a very short half life. I would go with another Benzo if possible.

This is fascinating to me, the idea of shooting ativan, because after being taken to the ER and eventually Psych-Ward, you couldn't pay me to have another injection of ativan and lose all recollection of the events of the previous day. They gave me so many ativan injections I couldn't sit my ass was so sore, and I also have no recollection of the five days I was in the ER. Terrible, awful experience, having five days completely stricken from your memory. Stupid Ativan. I finally had them switch me to valium once I got to the psych ward cause I gave them so much shit about the Ativan (also had had a bad experience a couple months prior being given ativan and then never got a script when I left the hospital and had severe anxiety attacks). Also it seems to have a paradox effect (increases anxiety) in high doses. But this is just my experience which is I'm sure atypical.

If you have never had Halcion how can you recommend it being more recreational than the Tamazepam? I have had both numerous times and find Tamazepam to be far superior to Halcion on a recreational level. It also curbs anxiety and insomnia better than Halcion too (plus the longer half life will keep those who constantly wake up through the night asleep longer than the Halcion). The Tammies are some of my favorite Benzodiazepines; they have more of a body buzz that seems to be lacking in it's relatives.

I just meant from the point of doing it to party, I would go with the one that I hadn't tried yet. Having done the temazepam, I don't find it to be very recreational. Of course for me that is true about all benzos that I have tried. The only recreational use I found for xanax and valium was to mix it with some good dark ale. It definitely was nice then, but by it's self. . ., But I am always willing to try something new in the name of intoxication:vomit2:Maybe Halcion is the cat's meow, who knows . . .

Your straight-up answer is always appreciated, DD, but what in particular did you find to be bull?
I appreciate everyone's input----I think I'll probably go with the increased-dosage Temazzies. I'm fond of it to begin with, and nobody has raved about the Halcion, either. I thought maybe it was the cat's ass of benzos or something and wanted to make sure sure I didn't blow a shot at getting something really good....

I dunno, I think I can decipher the devil fairly well and I thought he was going with more of a "anyone who says Halcion is better than Tamazepam is full of bullshit" kinda thing. Guess either way you take it you get the same info; go with the Tammies.

Hmm, hadn't heard that yet; never been a problem with me. I wonder if it would be a problem combined with Opaite constipation?

I've also had horrible stuff with Ativan. I've taken it a few times with the result of such severe anxiety, I felt like I was plugged into an electrical outlet, but no good feeling at all, then I had complete memory loss of the time while I was on the Ativan - all I could recall was the high anxiety sensation.
Anyway, ZK, I would go with the tammies, meself.
I'm surprised about the good Ambien reports. Maybe it's because I've been taking benzos for so many years, but I took Ambien for a few weeks & it did absolutely nothing for me...it was like taking a baby aspirin or something. Plus the stuff was expensive as hell.

Halcion sucks.
At least I didn't like Halcion.

And is that there sympathy for me, Ragdoll? I've never had Lunesta, but I'm sure it isn't very recreational. I did get the 3mg ones, though. And they were free (the seven day trial thing), so why not, eh? I take it you're not a fan?

Snort the Lunesta then see what there is to see.
I have Mazzies like water from a tap, but I prefer just about anything over it. Try to get Xanax, Halcion, or Valium. I get that trifecta for my insomnia. Works like a charm.

Yes, ZK, I'm not one for sarcasm - that really is sympathy for you, plus a dash of my bitterness about doctors tossed in for good measure. Lunesta doesn't even do as much as Tylenol PM; Lunesta does about the same as Ativan - no "good" feeling, just stupid-tired, fall asleep...for about 45 minutes and it's all over. Nice little cat-nap, and that's it. At least Tylenol PM keeps me asleep for three hours. And it's much cheaper. But, like I've said, I have a long and intense history with benzos, so it's possible some of those meds prescribed for insomnia just don't do much for me. Honestly, though...I can't see them doing much for anybody - except the pharm companies, who are making a fortune off 'em.
:uhhohh: is right.

I don't think he wanted to know what you would get to experiment...

I'm going with chemboy... my friend used to get the ati's and they were pretty good for a low powered benzo

I'm gonna go with the 45mg Temazepams---a lot I've read on Halcion wasn't that encouraging.
I've got 30mg Temazzies now, and they are quite nice, so the 45's should be that much better.
Tried the Lunesta, just orally as prescribed. Worthless crap. Made me drowsy for about 45 minutes.
Thanks for all your replies.

i hve not tried lunesta but was pleasantly suprized at the nice affect of ambien and temaz 30 mg in a mix. i'd throw in tylenol pm and maybe a perc or two when i was fortuneate enough to maintain a supply.
ah the good ol days with percs on one hand, and 3 refils of ambien plus diazpam for when i quit drinking on the other. part of the enjoyment was mixin and matchin until i caught the "right" buzz..
of course my tolerance was fukked after about two weeks of the benzo but at the time my wife was ready to leave me unless i quit drinking, so of course instead of booze i just replaced one for the other but fuk it and now she's happy.
what the hell was i trying to say? ah fuck it nevermind - stay safe of course and hope your shit works good

My fave benzo is also lorazepam (ativan). I know it's not the strongest, but for some reason it just really relaxes me more without getting out of control, plus with about 8-12 milligrams I get amazing dream-like visuals when I close my eyes. I've tried xanax, which i did not like, too inebriating in my opinion, valium, which didn't do much for me, and klonopin, which I felt was even worse than valium. Oh, and restoril, which was okay, but too sedating. I'd love to try halcion, so I'd say go with that. I've heard wonderful things about it. I love how it's named after the Greek Halcion, who mourned her husband who was lost at sea. I think she was turned into a crane if I remember Ovid's Metamorphoses correctly. Anyway, I'm a classics nut and love the fact that a drug is named after a Greek character. Sorry if this doesn't help much.
Edit: By the way, I know Ambien isn't a true benzo, but has anyone else experienced visuals with this. I remember taking it for sleep at college, and it didn't really make me sleepy, it just sort of made my mind cloudy and unable to remember things. I also remember looking at my alarm clock (you know how it is when you can't sleep and you keep looking at the clock) and the numbers kept shifting back and forth like they were dancing or something. Just curious to see if anyone else expeirenced this.

nark i had ambien for about 3 months plus some sporadic refils on doc follw ups i did have some strange dreams - it did not make me go to sleep but more like a buzz but heavier than a benzo buzz the dreams were kind of fukked up i dont remember specifics though
