Since I got the hydromorphone script last Wed. I h ave decided that I want to shoot them to maxamize the benefits...I hate wasting opiates! :-) So I check m y needle supple from the olden days...I have just 22 gauge needles....too big is what I've read...

Sohow to get smaller ones...no needle exchange here!! I am very very rural...how about the feed store...veterinary needles?

I am in California if that helps anyone figure out where I can get needles.

Shit...things here are much different than in San Francisco...DUH!!

Maybe I could use the 22gauge...what say you?!

Thanks!

Ginger

Type "research chemicals" into google and go to one of the sites that sells them overnight.

22 gauge is way too big for drug injections imho. I think your best bet is to go online and order up some reasonably sized syringes.

Please do not use 22g needles, as I used way to big of needles my first IV experience and gouged myself terribly. If there's no free needle exchange type service where you live, the next best thing is ordering online, it's very cheap and safe as there is ino human interaction, so nerves don't come into play like when you go into pharmacies. Good luck, I got totally hooked on the dilaudid rush for six weeks straight before deciding to go to detox, so be careful, all it takes is one shot of D to get hooked on the rush.

I use BD 1" 22G 3ml rigs, detacheable needle rigs, exclusively. 22G is NOT too big for IV injections. It's perfect in my opinion. they have to be sharp, of course, as do any needle. I think most folks don't know how big a 22G is, actually. It's nowhere near as large as an 18. With these 22's, it's actually quite nice because the bore is larger, you can get the shot in so much faster. Those "micro-fine" insulin syringes, besides being toally useless for breaking down pills, take a while to get all of the solution in.

I fucking SWEAR by 22G rigs.

Really, it depends on where its going and who its going into. In a guy with big man-veins, no 22 isn't that big of a deal. For me, way too big - I couldn't get anything larger than a 23-25 in my arms or hands and don't use larger than a 27 for feet. Women defnitely have way smaller veins, so take that into consideration.

I do agree with z that a lot of people go overboard with the small 31's and similar- that's not really necessary.

25ga work fine IMO. The fisrt time I ever tried needles I used a 16ga that I swiped from an unlocked closet in a doctor's office. It was like a fucking train spike!! I had me a squirter!!

Anyway, I don't know what they use those things for, but I learned my lesson. Hey, I know it was stupid, but self-teaching something like that is a bitch!

As for sources, where I live you can just go to a pharmacy and get what you need. As long as you don't look all shady or have ulcers running up and down you arms it works fine. Barring that, I would say go online.

I have never had any luck trying to buy syringes other than from online vendors. And as for gague, I prefer a 28...like vaxn8, I am a female with shitty, small veins and those work the best I've found. There are some pretty good online stores, just do a google search for insulin syringes, and you'll get a bunch of vendors.

^Z- it really makes a difference for us! I wish you could have shitty woman veins for a day, then you'd really understand! Mine are not only small, but they roll like crazy. I always get send to ped heme/onc when they need my blood and even those guys take at least 6-8 attempts to hit me. They could do it a lot easier if they would believe me when I tell them where they can hit something, but no they have to discover it for themselves. 99% of the time, they end up draing from my knuckles, which is a bitch!

I am a man and still use a 29-31g rig only. Why would you want to make a bigger puncture wound into your vein than you need to?

Target in my state at least has a policy of selling up to 10-pack without any script or qestions...now so does walgreen, but they want a diabtic profile.....no good.

if all else fails go to a clinic or e.r and tell the u have lost your "EPI-PEN" IN CASE OF STINGS, U ARE ALERGIC,ECT ECT.

sOMEWHERE I HAVE a post with directions, but basicly inside is a very tough glass syring and permanent needle. its a fatty, but mines been razor sharp for 2 yrs now....and its autoclavable.

Zoop, my fellow needle obsessor...

call me a pussy when i get my own IV going to avoid the constant battle of finding a good vein. I found hospital stays great for obtaining the proper riggs for IV's. Self taught.... hehe, wouldnt Candy be proud.

ive kept one in for a day or two to enjoy my lifestyle. Its so easy to feed and iv fluids, instead of poking around for a good flow.

i learned the hard way however, that IVs have a wee clip to stop blood from flowing out when getting yourself set with it... Imaine the panic of stopping the life line from flowing out all over the couch...

stains have stories

hehehe

shit here in the "Lou" walgreens won't just sell you one bag you have to buy a whole box, awesome huh. there are liquor stores all over that sell just single use needles by them selves for a buck.
You can get stickers anywhere just try online, get next day air and start poking away. I use 1cc ultra fine "insulin" needles(hehehe)
