opiates and nervous habits

For some time now, opiates seem to make my eyes dry, which makes me squint excessively. Its almost become like a nervous twitch... my wife complains cause she says I suck my teeth when I do it and it annoys her. I know its related to the opiates cause whenever I get low at the end of the month (sometimes), it goes away. Does anyone else experience this? And it seems that the more meds I take the worse it gets. It don't hurt but it is frustrating at times... especially while driving or something... I mean, excessive squinting and driving don't mix very well!

Does this happen to anyone else? Any nervous twitches or anything weird that you do while on opiates that goes away when your not using?

Dude, listen to this: When I get high, and I mean really high, not just kinda high, like on the verge of nodding high, I get a fucking lazy eye! Seriously! It never happens when I'm sober, but for some reason, when I get high, one of my eyes always gets like sluggish and doesn't respond quickly enough to stimulation in comparison to the other eye. It's not even the same eye every time. It's weird as hell.

Thusly, when we go out into public when we're high, I usually wear sunglasses.

I would guess it is your body trying to compensate for the constriction of the pupils...the squinting is an attempt to focus while the pupils aren't letting much light in....the strain of focusing could theoretically cause dry eyes as well...

just a thought...

I haven't been able to do anything but stay "normal" on opiates for over a year now....so no odd symptoms as far as I know...probably have to do a whole lotta H to get high at this point.

sounds like among other things, you are getting a little dehydrated. try drinking more fruit juices or water. also since opies dialate your eyes, you will squint too because too much light is flowing in... so shades help also.

SEVERE lazy eye for me, grows exponentially with the degree of highness..i think my left eye begins to nod before i do..that's how my non-user friends can tell when i'm high tho, i have this dumb look on my face like i don't know whats going on and my left eye i looking past them at a tree or some shit while the other is struggling to stay open..also i kinda consider this a bad habit, its not per se, but i will never ever let someone else drive my car, and the higher i am, the more i want to drive if me n people need to go places..ive fallen asleep at drive thru's n such and in parkin lots for extended periods of time n woken up confused as hell n just drive off agains..

But seriously, I am a pretty nervous/fidgety sorta guy normally, being called a "natural tweaker" by my friends. Opiates help this actually, another reason why I am drawn to them. I was with an older/wiser buddy of mine who had just scored some Oxy/Dilaudid for me but we stopped by this place to drop off some papers and I guess he said I fidgeted and looked down all kinds while talking to the girl behind the counter... I didn't even notice, but I told him thats why I need my opies

I'm a nose itcher. I'll scratch it red sometimes. I almost always do the runny-nose sniff thing too, even if I didn't rail.

I also talk alot. I wax philosophical, poetic, even free-style if I'm in the club or the block.

However, my biggest nervous habit when I'm on opiates is what my brother calls the "GOM Effect." God's Own Medicine makes me want to talk about religion and God.

Yep, dry eyes, the squinting, chewing my cheek....I seem to be more talkative when high. It's been some time now since I used, other than my daily dose of Methadone, but I can remember well.

I still get excessive dry mouth from the methadone.

The squinting was a big one for me as well. Just blamed it on the contacts!

The dry mouth and dry eyes could be from the histamine response. I suggest using eyes drops that contain a lubricant, such as Artificial tears. They can be expensive and I found that generic brands work just as well.

hmph, you're right, so that brings me to a strange point... why do things get so bright I have to squint my eyes when I'm high?

also I swear I've had dialated eyes from a shot before... maybe not... hmmm... anyway, all's I know is I always know when I'm getting "up" on something because the room seems to start getting really bright.

I'm way more talkative when I'm high. When I'm not high, I'm not much for smalltalk, but when I'm high, I talk people's ears off, usually until they say they have to leave or end the conversation. Then, if I'm speedballin, you're gonna need to hit me with a shovel to get me to shut the fuck up.

When I'm high, i can be very introverted and i prefer being alone however, if i am in a social situation when i am high or out in public i am much more talkative and less shy. But over all, i prefer being alone when i am high, working on art or projects, or cleaning. I like being in my own little world when i am high. Now, the internet is different, when i am high i can type and type and type in forums but i don't like to IM/PM to much when I'm high but wrigting and e mail or post i do enjoy when i am high.

I do get paranoid after being high all day about little things but nothing major, nothing of intrest. I don't think i have any nervous habbits when i am high, I'll have to watch myself later today when i am deep into a Tramadol tweek. If the Fedex truck ever gets here. My ex knows it's my b-day and she is my Fedex driver so she better have her butt here early today. LOL. But, we're not on great terms right now so who knows when she'll get here.

When i am high i love how creativity just flows out of me, it's amazing. I am so creative when i am high. When i am sober- not so much.

I know y'all saw what happens to me when I'm high and its good shit- at least those of you that were around over the weekend!:D I am so far beyond hyper, it's unreal. I did my shot fri PM pretty late, i think it was 9 or so. Didn't sleep fri PM, sat or sat PM, sun a little sleep not much. Got another good hookup monday, was up again all night monday PM worked all day yesterday.


I did finally crash last night on the train home from work, slept the whole way then got home and went straight to bed and i never do that! Looks like I'm going to be up all night again tongiht tho, but no complaints from me!:D

HoM know what ya mean, everything does seem brighter, but your pupil are definitely going to be pins if it's an opiate (and i just don't see you taking much else!). Other drugs dilate, but none of the ops.

Get high just kickin it at a friend's house and I'll fall back on the bed/couch/floor and watch TV or listen to some Floyd.

My main nervous habit on opiates is like most of us " Lot's of fun itching". I scratch all over and keep my wife awake on the weekends when I party LOL! just scratching like hell in my sleep as well. I also just love to talk like hell and be very social with lot's of my friends, expecially when I am on Oxycontin! ;)

sometimes when I'm right, i get double vision. i watch about 30 mins of TV per night. i lay on my side with one eye covered by my pillow. fucked up shit

when im really high, i get cross eyed. thats if i can keep my eyes open. i also smoke way too many cigarettes. occasionally i catch myself scowling or contorting my face in wierd ways, or tapping my teeth together, its kinda like grinding, but my jaw isnt clenched.

thank god i dont get the itchies anymore.
