Quick question... Roxane dillys

Swim just picked up his prescrip of dillys and got a new brand than the usual Merck (sp?) 4mg he usually gets. He has IVed the Merck ones many times easily for greater pain killing and for the nice little rush feeling. Well when he tried with the new ones, it turned the water thicker when he heated it up, and it wouldnt go into the needle then. This pissed him off a crap load! He eventually figured to dissolve in cold water , filter it thru a coffee filter then heat it and that seemed to work nicely =) but does anyone else have any more experience with this brand and a good work around to that anti-IV thing? Thanks.

well swim figured it out. It would seem with the Rox hydromorph that when you heat it it turns thicker and gel like. Well here is a way that worked for swim. crush the pill, mix with COLD water. Filter thru a coffee filter getting all the little particles out, along with the gel forming stuff. now there will be just cloudy water, maybe a little bit of something that got thru. Now you can heat it just fine, so heat, filter and suck it up into syringe. Worked very well actually. Swim even let the first attempt that turned to gel cool down and it turned back into liquid, and then did the procedure above and it work fine. Hope this helps any out there that get these and get pissed when they first find out they gel when heated.

i always liked roxannes dilaudids. never had any problems.

i've never had that type of problem w/ D but have with other pills. i think you could skip half the stuff you're doing to prep for injection....just cold cook...mix the crap out of it instead of heating then continue on like you normally would. it seems like you might be loosing alot of good stuff using the coffee filter...

I've tried the Roxane™ hydromorphone product with good results but no where's NEAR the good old Knoll™ "K4" [as well as the terrible 2s and the elusive 8's...btw anyone know if Knoll Pharma is still making those or is the mfr defunct?]

& Yes like the above person said, a coffee filter isn't really necessary if you know your way around a spoon. Use a larger fit sic[/I]]need MORE water=don't be shy!], and DON'T use heat on the first extraction if you can help it. Use your filter to CAREFULLY push the cotton around the chalky sifty matter to keep the bottom of the wad wet with that good liquid and flowing as you draw your dose then go back and try another extraction if you think you can taste any residual dilaudid in the paste. It has it's own distinct taste and by that you should be able to gauge how much good stuff you didn't get first time around. They're so small that this should be easier than you'd think. Not nearly as laborious as it sounds.

Please remember this is STRONG SHIT. Dilaudid is roughly [B]2-8x as potent as Morphine Sulfate...and even though it's oral bioavailability is comparatively good, many of us find the temptation to inject VERY hard to resist...nothing on God's green earth has a rush and glow like hydromorphone...mm mmm good. got any to spare? lol (j/k!)

Dilaudid is roughly 2-8x as potent as Morphine Sulfate...and even though it's oral bioavailability is comparatively good, many of us find the temptation to inject VERY hard to resist...nothing on God's green earth has a rush and glow like hydromorphone...mm mmm good. got any to spare? lol (j/k!)

Oooooooh, the glow of hydromorphone, LOVE IT. So much I use it daily... lol. I do have some things to do today, but a quick 4mg dillie rush first sounds just about right. I will be careful, don't worry~!! :) :)

Ah yeah, swim loves the dillies. Swim has taken almost all opiates, but there is a special place in his heart for dilaudid. Plus it is the best med when IVed for his pain he has daily. He is a chronic pain patient that also likes how opiates feel. he does take his meds, but he takes his dillies IV instead of by mouth since they work soooo much better and faster for the pain and feel real nice too. Nothing wrong with that he figures. He ahs been IVing Dilly for a while now and seems to have a good idea on how to get it to work. Was just very pissed the first time it gelled up on him, thought it was such a waste. But all is ok now. Thanks for the info, will try that out if he needs too and gets those other dillies again. One thing he has noticed is that dillies hit the best after you havent taken any in a while. The longer you wait the better it feels. One time swim was without meds for almost an entire day to do spilling his spoon before a plane flight home. So by the time he got home withdrawels had been hitting for hours and pain was intense. But man, when he slammed that dilly IV when he got home, WOW best feeling ever from a drug. and all the pain went bye bye real fast. He wishes everytime he did it it was like that. Oh well.

SWIM had the same problem.The 8mg roxanes cook clean everytime. IDK why the 4mg have to jell but SWIM will try your filtering technique
