i've read quite a few posts where users say they're getting ready to run out of their supply of whatever drug it is they're doing. let's say, for instance, a person acquires a large amount of H (or it could be anything, but let's just say H for argument's sake). This person rations out the H for use over a 4 week period, daily use, and quickly becomes addicted. When the 4 weeks is coming to an end they start to panic, obviously fearing the pains of w/d. they seem to comfort themselves by saying how they also acquired a couple pills of this or that which they'll take when w/d symptoms reach an extremely uncomfortable stage. this will help them through the H w/d's.
my question is this: does taking one opiate to help minimize the w/d symptoms of another opiate actually help mask those symptoms, or are you really just getting off ill when you take it, therefore just setting yourself up for the w/d's at a later time in which the replacement drug runs out? are you masking the w/d's or just continuing your addiction a bit longer?
i've always wondered about this. it would make sense that using any opiate during w/d of another opiate wouldn't be helping you through w/d's, just pushing it off for a short while. if you're trying to get clean, it's just the addict in you making excuses for getting off ill one more time. let me know what you think, and offer any actual experiences that might shed some light on this. thanks.
