how to turn a patch into powder form

I've always just cooked up the gell and banged it, but i never even thought about how to get it into powder form, so if any body's got any methods let me know, and does it make a differance?

I think I have heard that shooting that gel is a big no-no. It has alot of shit in it that you most definently do not want in your veins. Then again so does tar.
